In CWI today we went over the Europe map. Cheyenne told us about her story that she did. Hers was about Obama talking about International agreements. Reduce nuclear programs was a topic they talked about. She also talked a little bit about a failed state since she has been gone. Bruns told us about the test is on Friday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. All the topics that will be on the test are on the CWI web page.Then Bruns showed his PowerPoint. The Donkey is the Democrat symbol. The elephant is the Republican symbol. Not all democrats and republicans agree on all issues within their party. Media bias (fox news vs CNN are considered liberal). Where you live can effect what party you belong to. If you live in a small town you are more likely to be Republican. Young people are more democratic.Republicans are conservative. Republicans favor lower taxes and believe in trickle-down theory. They believe in laissez-faire system. They favor a limited role for the government in society and believe that people should help themselves, not rely on the government. They also believe in rugged individualism.Democrats are liberal. They favor change in society. They are willing to increase taxes to support programs. Favor an active role for government in society. The support regulations on economic activity and businesses. Believe that involvement- be it environmental regulations against polluting or anti-discrimination laws can improve the quality of our lives.
