The intro to this speech is made by the senior class president of Wakefield High School in Arlington Virginia. He talks about how we should try and excel in all that we do. Then he introduced Obama to speak.Obama starts talking about how he lived in Indonesia and got his education at 4 in the morning and how he understands how people want more sleep during school. He tells the students that no matter how you have to get your education it is really important. I agree with him and think that more people should get educations but there are a lot of people that just don't care enough to know this. He talks about how it is the students responsibility to work as hard as they can in school so that they can accomplish this. This does make sense because we are only as good as we let ourself be.He says that America is only as good as we make it to be through these educations. He says that we should do all of this so that we can better the economy and create new jobs. He talks about how there will be challenges along the way and that we should try our best to overcome these challenges. He also alks about being able to overcome peer pressure so that we can continue our education. He says that we should also set our own goals so that we can help out with the challenges that we will face.He says that we will may find getting money easy because of television but the truth is it is really not. He also tells the truth when he says that most of us will most likely not become famous rappers or basketball player but we shouldn't let this affect us that much. He also says that we should learn from our mistakes and keep moving forward. According to Obama asking for help is a sign of strength so that you can learn something new. He makes a point about how America is about people that keep going through their own problems and contribute to the country's welfare.Obama had sent out lesson plans for this speech and that was where the controversy was. He says that they were to help keep people in school but most people think that this was to push political veiws on impressionably minds. In my opinion I think that he is trying to do both but only show the one reason.
