Monday- Lucas finished his presentation. The Philippines were taken over in WWII when the U.S. beat the Filipinos and took over. Spanish-American War broke out because we wanted to help Cuba. Spain was putting Cubans in concentration camps and we did not like that. We intercepted a note and a U.S. battleship was sunk. The main reason we went to war was because the USS Main was sunk. Platt Amendment was for Cuba saying that they were free but with strings attached.
Tuesday- The Yellow Press was what instigated the war. The Battle in the Philipines was the first battle in the war. the rough riders were the first U.S. Calvary.
