Historical Pictures- Mooseheart Orphanage - Extra Credit

Mooseheart Orphanage has been running since 1913. The orphanage is still there today and has held over 5,000 orphans or can also be pal placement for troubled teens and for the parents that give their children up to the state. It is basically the Boys-town of Illinois. The establishment is a catholic based placement home. They have their own school with a football team along with other sports. They have their own houses and even their own zip code. Mooseheart also has a full operating farm and over 5,000 acres of land. They also have their own post office and every teen is placed into a home with volunteer foster parents. Every year Mooseheart does a light drive with a bunch of different lights around the facility, used as a extremely successful fund raiser. Mooseheart has plans on being around for a very long time.

Moosehear is actually very important to out family history, my grandmother stayed there for over 4 years when she was growing up because her father and mother both died. So it was kind of cool to see where she spent some of her life when she was my age actually.
