The United States has the very first African American president. Some people say that this is one of the greatest moments in America's history others say that this is the begining of the end. This is what America is based on though personal opions, a peoples nation.McCain and Obama had different opinions on seperate issues such as health care, Iraq, education and so much more. We all have heard their opinions over the last year.I personally wanted McCain to be the next president of the United States. Despite his age and his tendancy to not be a good public speaker he had a plan. His plan was great, he wanted change but he wanted it at a steady rate. Obama has ideas but his plan for these ideas are not well thought out. Take Iraq for istance Obama said that he would get the troops out of there as soon as he was in office. We all know that this can't happen. McCain though wants us to stay and finish what we started. McCain did say we would pull out most of the troops which is good but we can't just stop everything. Growing up with Marines I know that Marines also want to finish what was started. Otherwise all they have done meant close to nothing. We want Iraq to establish a good government. McCain openly said that the changes he had in mind would take time, but in the end would be well worth it. He was telling the truth and didn't change his beliefs to win. If you ask me, that is a good quality to have in a president.McCain also had my moral beliefs. These are such things as gay marrige, abortion, and protecting children. These three things are very important to me personally. Children have just as much right to live free as we do.My over all reaction though I wasn't that surprised. We all kinda knew that Obama was heading to the Oval Office. I just pray that we sent him there for the right reasons. Do I think McCain would have been better? Yes. But do I believe Obama will be a bad president? Defently not. They both love America and the people in America. Obama is ready to turn this country around for the better. These next four years will be interesting to be living in. I can't wait to watch history in the making.
