Blog Assignment

My blog assignment about the 9-11project was about the Taliban. Like who are they? how did they get started? and such. Well first, we need to know who they are at first. The Taliban are the ones that terrorized the U.S. The Taliban a.k.a "The Base" is a broad-based militant Islamist organization. The Taliban were founded October 10, 1994. And the founder was Osama Bin-Laden in the late 1980s. Al-Qaeda began as a logistical network to support Muslims fighting against the Soviet Union during the Afghan war. And the members were recruited throughout the Islamic world. A lot of people wonder why did they bomb us? what were their motives? Well, in 2002, Bin Laden sent a "Letter to America". He stated that al-Qaeda's motives for their attacks were western support for attacking Muslims in Somalia, supporting Russian atrocities against Muslims in Chechnya, supporting the Indian oppression against Muslims in Kashmir, the Jewish aggression against Muslims in Lebanon, the presence of U.S troops in Saudi Arabia, and U.S support of Israel. Before the attacks, Al-Qaeda issued proclamations that provide insight into the motivations for the attacks. One was the fatwa of August 1996, and a second was a shorter fatwa in February 1998. Now what is a fatwa? A Fawta is a ruling on a point of Islamic law given by a recognized authority. One of the fatwas said the following:  "We -- with God's help -- call on every Muslim who believes in God and wishes to be rewarded to comply with God's order to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it. We also call on Muslim ulema, leaders, youths, and soldiers to launch the raid on Satan's U.S. troops and the devil's supporters allying with them, and to displace those who are behind them so that they may learn a lesson."[- -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motives_for_the_September_11_attacks

Now you can see that they have hatred for the U.S. and the wanted us to be punished. That's why they finally decided to actually go and hijack planes and go to the U.S and crash the planes to the twin towers. Then long after that, the leader Osama Bin Laden was killed by the U.S. Everyone felt relief and gratitude like President Bush did. Would you or did you guys feel gratitude and a sense of closure like President Bush did?. How did/ do you guys feel about the killing of Osama Bin Laden? Do you think that the Taliban is planning for another attack? Maybe worse?

  • Interesting. I do like that you pose questions throughout as it makes your readers think a little bit. With that said, your topic was the Taliban and you did al-Qaeda. I would also suggest you separate your information a bit more into shorter paragraphs. Also be sure to include two pictures.
