The movie i chose for this assigned blog was Saving Private Ryan. I thought it was a good movie but very long. I learned a lot about what happend in D-day and just a lot about WWII and how severe it was. I would rate this movie a 5 out of 5. It was sad.
Saving Private Ryan was about James Ryan vistiting the cemetary and had a flash back of the war. It was about D-day, June 6, 1944, invading Normady, France on Omaha Beach against Germany. During that time there were thousands of American Soldiers lives lost. There are a total of 4 Ryans, 3 have died. They are going in and trying to find the other Ryan and send him back because all of his brothers have died. All four brothers were in the same division until the 5 Solivan brothers died at the same time then they split the Ryan brothers up. General George Marshall says the last Ryan brother is alive and that they are going to find him and send him home. Three days after D-day Cpt. John Miller and a few other guys go out on a mission to try and find Private James Ryan. First, they go into a french villiage. Snipper kills the German Soldier that was up in the tower of the french village. They found a Private James Ryan but it ended up being the wrong one. The James Ryan they are looking for is from Iowa. The one they found was from Minnesota. Another soldier is re-writing a letter that a soldier had to send to his mom and dad due to blood on the original letter. They are going through a bunch of soldiers dog tags to see if they can find James and make sure he didnt die or if he was in that area. They found a soldier who knew the James Ryan they are looking for and told them that they ran into a COL who gathered a bunch of men and are headed to Rummel. Cpt. Miller will do anything to go back to his wife. If going to Rummel to find Private James Ryan then that is what he is going to do. As they approached Rummel they found Private James Ryan from Iowa and told him the news about his brothers and that he is going home. He said there is no way he is going to leave the brothers he has left. Private Ryan's groups mission was to secure the bridge meaning, not wanting the Germans to get access to it. Private Ryan refused to leave so Cpt. Miller and the rest of the men who went to find James are helping them. They took off all of their socks and made sticky bombs to use during the Battle of Rummel. During the battle they protected James Ryan and made sure he didnt die. The Germans shot Cpt. Miller because the interperater guy is afraid to shoot and crys all the time. Now since he is like the only one left he actually shoots. Cpt. Miller saved Private James Ryan. When Cpt. Miller died they took out a letter from his coat and it was from General George Marschall to give to James Ryans mother. At the end of the movie James Ryan talked to Cpt. Miller's grave stone and salutes.
