Today we talked about our assigned blogs. Rachel talked about the railroad strike. The strike was about that they were going to cut railroad wages. It took decades for the strikers to finally get good wages and conditions to work in. If you were part of a strike you were put on a black list and you couldn`t really get another job. Danielle did hers on the age of railroad. It was about the union and pacific railroads. They hired chinease and irish immigrants. The sanfransisco earthquake is what April did hers on. After the earthquake there were small homes built and they were all painted like the same color and it was this really ugly green color. Megan did hers on John D. Rockafeller. He started out his career with a job as a bookeeper at age 16. When he was young he thought about going into a music career, but then changed his mind. Him and a business partner started selling food, but then they left to sell oil and he bacame the richest person.
