as you all know Walmart is a pretty popular store but are they ruining our local towns? Since i can remember Walmart has always had lower prices therefore people want to shop there. Which takes business away from our local communities which then makes our local businesses lose money which then ultimately makes Walmart bigger.

i think we should have one, but then again i dont. Walmart would hurt hurt some businesses, such as hy vee, fareway, oaks variety, and pamida, but it would also aid some of our bussinesses, such as restaurants, gas stations, and possibly even places like chiropractors, auto shops, and beauty salons by new visitors noticing what great places we have already.. so i am actually uncertain to what it could to do to Harlan. I think its just one of those things we would just have to wiat and see.
I dont think that it really matters if they take away from business. Its not like harlan has good stores anyways. Pamida definately stinks. its a waste of our time and gas to go to places like council bluffs or atlantic just to make a trip to walmart and they have a lot of good things that we cant get here in town so i think that if we got a walmart it would be pretty awesome.
yeah kara i agree! i know if harlan had a walmart right now i would be putting my application in when i'm 16.. it would save me miles so i wouldnt have to drive to denison! all harlan's jobs are awful! harlan get a walmat! get a walmart!
I don't know. All I know is I like walmart 'cause I can afford it. As long as I can afford what I need, then that's what matters. I'm not going to break myself buying locally if I could get a better deal at Walmart or somewhere else.
