Trump and the GOP Debate
Former President and current GOP (Grand old party) front runner Donald Trump recently went on an interview with former Fox news commentator and political talk show host Tucker Carlson. Trump hosted this interview with Carlson rather than going to a debate with other GOP candidates. Many republicans are mad while others gain more ground towards following Trump only expanding the GOP lead. Why are some Republicans mad and how has Trump held his ground?
The GOP debate was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday the 23rd of August. There were eight GOP candidates that spoke at the debate: Florida Gov.Ron Desantis, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. Notice how none of these names were Donald Trump? Trump currently leads the GOP race with 52 percentage points. He leads the next nearest GOP candidate by 37.3 points a margin that is nearly impossible to close. Some polls have Trump leading by 40 or 50 points which shows more indication that Trump will win the GOP nomination.
So, why are some republicans mad? When Carlson interviewed Trump, he was not asking any hard questions or even pushing Trump on important topics. Many conservatives have come out and said that Carlson was throwing soft softballs at Trump. One question even invited Trump to attack Pence stating “You have always been nice to Pence?” Trump, however, did not feel the need to attend the debate because he thought it was “a waste of an hour or two.” Trump has held his ground, even through his indictments however. Many of Trump's voters who are middle to far right conservatives go with his statements that the media is just trying to take him down. These pushes to “try to take him down” often have the wrong effect on the voters and only push voters towards Trump.
To recap, Trump is 35%-40% above the next republican candidate and is on pace to win the GOP nomination. Trump skipped the GOP debate because he thought it was a waste of time and didn’t want to be yelled at by 8 people. Carlson’s interview was like teeball to many conservatives, and the media is just pushing Trump voters towards Trump.
Do you think Trump is right about not attending the GOP debate?
Will Trump win the GOP nomination or will another candidate catch up? If so, who?
Should the media keep trying to take down Trump?

I think that the only reason he should go to any of them would be to further his lead, and cement his nomination. I think that if his trials are held, everything will go away and people will stop talking about it.
I do believe Trump is right because it is to much to get into. I beleive trump will win the GOP nomination. I beleive that they should stop coming for Trumps but they won't stop.
I also think they should stop coming for Trump, but I highly doubt that they will stop coming for Trump because he is an easy target. I think Trump was right in not going to the debate.
I think that it was best for Trump to not have gone to the GOP. If he had went the other candidates would have asked him all about his legal issues and that would have shed more light on everything wrong that has happened with Donald Trump. I think the media needs to give up and stop.
I think that all of the canditates have already said everything that has happened to Trump, so I don't think they would have any more to bring to light. The media doesn't really have anything else to talk about.
