At least 17 people were killed as a massive storm system ripped through the central and southern US yesterday,creating deadly tornadoes in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Tornadoes also touched down in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, reports the AP, which puts the death toll at 17 in Arkansas and one in Oklahoma.
The Little Rock suburb of Vilonia was one of the hardest-hit towns, with at least 10 people dead and other victims believed to be buried under rubble, reported Mr. Reuters . The county sheriff says there is a "mass casualty situation" with numerous people injured. "There's just really nothing there anymore," says the local school superintendent. "We're probably going to have to start all over again.Damage was widespread in other suburbs of Little Rock, where the NWS( National Weather Service) urged residents to take cover after a tornado was seen crossing Interstate 40. It was reported to be as much as a half-mile wide, CNN reported.The AP reports a path of devastation some 80 miles long.

I would feel devastated. I would try to get help building the town back up from anyone possible.
That's so awful. I think that if that happened to my town, I would be absolutely devastated. I wouldn't know what to do, or where to start after the tornado. If I were the mayor of the town, I would do my best to keep everyone calm after the storm and would help everyone who needed assistance.
I would be devastated if our town was destroyed by a tornado. I would try to help out as much as possible if I was mayor.
This is so sad. If we were hit by a tornado I would be devastated. You would loose so much more than material things. You would loose the house you grew up in and so much more. I would not even know where to start if I was the mayor.
That is soo sad... I always wonder what it would be like to be in the middle of a tornado, but im not so sure i would actually want to be in one. Being the mayor or any resident of the town would be soo hard now... having to restart and rebuild everything!
Well I guess there is nothing you could do after it happened other than try to rebuild but ya that would totally suck and it would be really tough to be the towns mayor
I would feel bad if I lost my home. If I was mayor I would try to find places for people to stay until there houses are fixed.
yeah but sometimes people aren't so lucky and whole towns are wiped out.
I would be sad and would be devastated to know that part of your town is no longer there. If I was the mayor, I would immediately start up relief services for the families who lost their possessions.
Hearing people die from a natural disaster is sad to hear, especially a state that has tornado's that do a lot of damage every year.
