The prime minister of South Korea, Chung Hong-won, resigned after the ferry that sunk. The ferry left over 300 people missing or dead, mostly teenagers. The government was accused of not doing enough work to rescue the people of the sunken ship but the prime minister resigned saying it was a symbolic gesture. Some of the families of the victims heckled Chung when he was in a car while visiting a shelter near the wreckage of the ferry. All 15 people that were in control of the ferry are in custody and being questioned on the wreck. The captain had jumped into a life raft before the ferry had fully sunk and the captain is supposed to stay with the ship until it sinks. Crew members were also accused of not helping passengers in need.

What do you think of the Prime Minister's actions?

Have the victim's family's actions been to drastic?

Do you think the crew could have done more?

  • The crew on the Ferry definitely should have stayed with the ship. It's very selfish of him to save himself when it was his obligation to stay. I think that the victim's families are being a little extreme, but they have a right to be angry about the incident.

    • Yea, it was his duty to make sure all his passengers are off the ship before he is.

  • I think the Prime Minister isn't responsible for this and shouldn't quit his job because of it. I think there is always more the crew can do.

  • I don't know if a sunken ship is anything to resign over but it is an act of respect! I feel bad for the families of the victims... but if i was a crew member and the ship was sinking i would try to save my own life too.

    • Yea, I wonder if the victims families realize he gave up his job in a nice gesture.

  • seems weird that the prime minister would resign after the wreck I wonder if there is something the government knew something that the people didn't

  • I think the prime minister shouldn't be forced to resign or feel he needs to just because of a disaster. I think he should've stayed in power and tried to pull the country back together.

    • Yea, the company should have taken the blame instead of the government.

  • Yes, I think that the crew could have done more because if they could save themselves they could have tried to save others also.

  • I think that the crew on the boat should of had more training unless they had it. But your job should be to keep the passengers safe and your job would be done.
