Wikipedia is a well-known source to most. Wikipedia is an online source that is written and maintained by a group of volunteers. Typically, it is one of the first sites that comes up in your search engine. This has been a hot topic for a long time. Many say wikipedia is unreliable and not trustworthy, others say it is an okay website to use. How do we know if wikipedia is reliable if the writers are volunteers?
Wikipedia has run into some problems in the past that have put a dent in their reputation. There was an American journalist who was reading his online biography done by wikipedia, and he was listed as a conspirator in two assassinations regarding John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. They could not identify the writer of this biography because the only information they have about these writers is their computer IP address. Later on, the writer laughed it off and apologized saying he wrote it as a joke.
In my opinion, I think wikipedia can be reliable sometimes but I wouldn’t typically choose a wikipedia link. I would rather find a more reliable source when getting my information. I think wikipedia has fooled too many people too many times since its upbringing. If I absolutely need to use wikipedia, I would make sure the given information is correct before using it further within my project/paper/assignment.
Do you use wikipedia?
Do you think wikipedia should be considered a reliable source?
Do you think wikipedia is trustworthy?

I think wikipedia is trustworthy as long as it is not your first or only source. Sources like colleges and museums tend to be far better for a primary source. I will use wikipedia, but never without checking another site. In general, wikipedia is probably a trustworthy site.
I agree, Wikipedia should not be used as the only source.
I usually don't use wikipedia, just because there are other sources that I think are better. But I will use wikipedia if I can't find anything else. Wikipedia can sometimes be reliable but I would reccomend finding another source to backup what info you found on wikipedia.
I agree, Wikipedia can be reliable but it is better to use a different source.
I think if you are looking for a quick and easy question about every day life then there probalbly wouldn't be too much risk in using wikipedia. However, if you are looking for information on something important, then you I think you should atleast look at more then just wikipedia.
I agree, you should always find a better source than Wikipedia.
I've heard so much stuff from teachers about how wikipedia is such a bad resource. I personally kinda like wikipedia just to get an easy anwer on somthing. But I would never use that to anwer a problem. It can be kinda sketchy. But they apparently fact check it and make sure everything is corect before its posted.
I agree, teachers do metntion a lot that the site isn't very reliable but some topics can be.
I don't use Wikipedia, because everyone I've talked to about it has said it's unreliable and gives false information. I don't think it should be considered a reliable source, yes, sometimes it can be reliable but in most cases, it gives false information. I personally wouldn't trust everything on Wikipedia, just cause I know it's known for being very unreliable.
I agree I dont use Wikipedia either ive always been told its unreliable and usally gives false information. I also dont think it should be considered a reliable source because it typically has false information and reliable sources always have good true information.
