Should the voting age be lowered?

Lowering the voting age can have a beneficial increase in voting involvment, and in turn increase voter turnout. More people being able to vote also means that the government would be able to better suit people of a broader age group and encourage them to get involved in politics. Furthermore, it is proven that those who were able to vote from a younger age, were more prone to staying consistant and are more likely to vote consistently since they got into the habit at a younger age.  By having the age lowerd it can shape the future of society and bulid the new generation. Theirs diffrent countries that have the voting rights or age to 16-17. "give them a voice in our democracy". It can give them a chance to have their voices heard in the politics.

    • I agree 18 is resonable age to vote not too young and not too old.

  • I don't think we should lower the age because people can still be immature at the age of 16 and 17. Once you hit the age of 18 you actually take these types of things seriously. Studies have shown that 18-year-olds make better decisions rather than 16-17.

  • Yes i think the voting age should be lowered because when kids that are 18 i think are more thta responsible enough to vote for president. and if you lower the age that means you will also get more of a diverse voting selection.

  • I think the voting age should stay where it is at. 18 year olds are mature enough to know about politics and are able to do their research. It could be beneficial for 16-17 year olds to be able to have a voice, but 18 is the best age to start being able to vote.

    • I would agree 16 year olds would be immature to vote.

  • I do not think that the voting age should be lowered. I think that the voting age is in a great spot right now, and there is no need to change it. If you lowered the voting age you could be given the opportunity of determining an important role of our country in the hands of a group of people who may not yet know what a good candidate looks like.

  • I don't think it is a very good idea to give anyone under 18 the right to vote. They are not seen as adults yet and there understanding of socity and politics is still very undevloped. Also, their brains would still be devloping, so their imput might not be as legitimate.

  • I don't see a problem with the current voting age so I think it should stay the same. It would be nice to have younger people's opinions on who the next president, governor, etc. should be, but then again you aren't legally an adult until you're eighteen.

  • I think the voting age should stay the same, I think that once you turn 18, you're out of the house, paying taxes, and have a job, you should be able to vote. It's only fair.  I think that if we were to change the voting age people would get upset, I think it's good where it's at right now. I would not like to vote at 16 or 17, it just seems like a lot of work, and I already have enough on my plate with school and other extracurriculars.

    • Voting age as of now is perfect. Its a good way to encrouge to vote and change the outcome
