Should Parents track their kids?

Should  parents track their kids' location and know where they are all the time? We all know about how technology is advancing. There's multiple apps that parents can always see where their kids are and their driving history and their phone usage. Those apps include Life360, FamiSafe, Gokid, FindMy and multiple more. There are pros and cons to these apps.

The pros of these apps are the safety features that they have. Knowing where your kids are all the time and being able to make sure they're safe is so nice, especially in the world we are living in today. Some of these apps detect when you get into a crash and notify the people who have your location and the police. Another pro is that it holds accountability when kids know they are being tracked they do way less things that they shouldn't do. Lastly it gives parents peace not always worrying if your kid made it home.

However there are cons to having parents track your location. It can hurt the trust between the kid and parent, trust is always something that needs to be earned but not trusting your kid can really strain your location with your kid.  Also these apps are not 100 percent accurate and can get kids in trouble for a glitch on the app. Growing up kids want to have their own independence and if parents are always tracking their kids then kids want to just do what they want because their parents already don't trust them.

I think there's pros and cons of tracking. But overall I think its parents not trusting their kids when they should and it will strain the kids relationship with their parents. However, it could also be good just for the safety aspect of these apps.

Do you think parents should track their kids?

Do you have a tracking app on your phone?

If so, What app?

    • I agree if you always know what your kids are doing then they know not to do the things they aren't supposed too.

  • Personally, I would say that parents should track their children using tracking apps. It doesn't necessarily have to serve as constant monitoring, because ultimately
it's just a security reason. Many parents just want to make sure their children are safe. Or when you're driving and run out of gas. I'm also pretty sure that when parents use
this app, they don't constantly check where their child is because they know that they have to trust their child.

    • I agree saftey when driving is very important when parents have these apps because of the crash detection alerts they can get.

  • I mean in my opinion it really depends because some parents really want to contron what and where their kids are and i feel like that just overprotecting their kids and thats just being toxic and i hate when arents are like that. Although if its only for safety than parents should track their kids just if its necessary.

    • I agree its definitely a parents prefernce on what they want there kids to have andits definitely a saftey thing.

      • I agree that parents can be over protecting but they have reason why

  • I think we should keep track on the kids its better to making sure their safe. No i dont have a tracking app. life 360 is pretty popular in the community but i know and see why parents want to track their kids.

    • yes that is a vaild reason for your parents to have your location

      • I agree, Parents making sure there kids are safe then it makes them feel better.

  • I think that parents should track their kids if they have a reason like the parents are at work and the kids are at home and they are bad kids then that is a valid reason to have to track them but just to have they location is ok to have for emergences.
