Should every high-school grade have open campus?

First of all what is open campus? Open campus is where students will be able to leave school premises and they can be gone for that class/lunch period depending on what they have and when they have open campus. But as long if the student doesn't have any classes or enrolled in any classes to take, also they have to sign out and they can leave and once they come back they have to sign back in and they can go to their next class. Some schools have open campus when he/she is a junior or senior and they have completed the classes they needed for high-school and when you go into college you'll have open campus. I personally think that open campus is good and I think that they shouldn't take it away and it also helps with people's work.

Open campus is a also a good thing to prove that who's responsible and to see if they can come to school back on time and if they won't miss their class/lunch period. I think that it's a good thing to have it cause students can get what they want to eat and they won't have to the school lunch. Also it gives he/she more freedom from the school and they can probably take a nap at home if they have enough time and they will be able to eat somewhere else. Open campus also allows students to gain independence, they can socialize with friends, they can even help increase business at resturants that they go to. It also helps earn the trust to the students when they have open campus and they can study if they have a big test or they want to study for a test and if they have enough time to do during open campus.

In my opinion, I think that they shouldn't take away open campus and I think that they should allow every high-schooler to have open campus as long as they can be responsible and they don't ruin it for themselves. If they don't want to eat at school they can leave and go somewhere else to eat during lunch and I think that everyone junior/senior that has it likes open campus.

Do you think every high-schooler should have open campus?

Do you think that they should keep open campus?

  • Great topic and really well done Aiden!! #1 this week!

  • Honestly, I think seniors should have it. Juniors and underclassmen might violate it and do stupid stuff when they are on open campus. Most underclassmen are no mature enough or responsible enough to have open campus. I also do think that they should keep open campus for semester tests because it kind of gives us a sense of responsibility.

  • I think that only seniors should have an open campus because it would get out of hand if all the grades had it. I think that they should keep an open campus because it can teach students how to be on time, and ready for classes.

  • I personally do not think that they should take away open campus. I think that it is quite honestly stupid to keep the students here when they do not have a class. Especially in small towns like ours. I think that it helps teach students to better manage their time and not be late to things. But, I don't think that every highschooler should have open campus.

  • I think that only seniors in high school should be able to have an open campus. My reasoning for this is that it's a very big privilege to have an open campus and if every grade had it, the privilege would get taken away because it would get out of hand. I think they should continue to have open campus but only for the seniors.

  • I don't think open campus should be taken away since it's a great way to get students to practice being more responsible, which will be a useful skill in the future. If a student is taking advantage of the open campus or is not responsible enough to come back in time there could be a penalty, like probably a detention or just a removal of the student's open campus privilege.

  • I think students that have their license should be allowed to have open campus but there should be limits on it. If kids have bad grades or don't show up on time then it should be taken away. I think it should be monitored very close because certain kids would take advantage of it and do bad things.

    • I agree with you because the people that don't have a license they could get in trouble for going off their route and they would be getting in trouble with parents.

  • I think every highschooler should have open campus because some poeple can get frustrated and just need some time to themselves. If they don't come back on time or are caught doing bad things in that free time obvisously a punihsment will be to take it away. Freshman and sophmores don't have it and some people could say they aren't mature enough. Some people could be and the people that aren't simply won't have that priveledge.

    • I agree with you because some freshman and sophmores can be mature enough and people just don't see it and they should get open campus and show how mature they can be.
