"I did not really realize I was getting life until the date of sentencing. When my attorney told me, I told him that I wanted to take back my guilty plea... they denied me."

Timothy Tyler says his life ended when he was 23 years old. That was two decades ago, when he was arrested and later sentenced to a mandatory double-life term in prison without the possibility of parole for conspiracy to possess LSD with intent to distribute. Tyler was busted after mailing five grams of the hallucinogenic drug to a friend who was working as an informant for the federal government.

Do you think he should have gotten life for selling drugs? If not, how long do you think he should have gotten?

  • i dont think he should of gotten life for this. its a very small thing so i dont think they should of done that. i think he should of got around 20 years

    • I agree, I think 20 years would be a lot more understandable than life for this case.

  • I think it is a very serious crime. Maybe he should of been sentenced a little less, but he is dumb to no take the guilty plea.

  • I don't think that this was a serious enough crime to get life, but he does deserve to go to jail. I understand why he wants to take back his guilty plea but he should have considered the outcome when he sold the LSD in the first place.

  • I have heard stories about people that get sent to jail and turn their life around. I think there was a chance he could have done the same. I don't think you should get life in prison for selling drugs but at the same time it is a very serious crime.

    • I agree, I think they should have given him a chance to change his life instead of life in prison.

  • No he should not have gotten a life sentence for this, LSD may be a drug classified as one of the worst but it has different effects on people, many inventors have tried it and it ended up helping them out with their inventions.

  • I think the life sentence was a little bit too much... if everyone who ever sold drugs in our country got sentenced for life can you imagine how packed our jails would be?

    • That's a good point, we would probably run out of room for prisoners if all drug dealers got life.

  • I don't think he should've gotten life for it. I think his sentence should be no more than 20 years or so.
