The term binge-watching dates back to 2003, but the concept really gained popularity around 2012. What is binge-watching? Binge-watching is watching multiple episodes of the same show in one sitting. In 2015 binge-watch was declared the word of the year by Collins English Dictionary. Collins English dictionary stated that the use of the term increased significantly in the year prior.
Almost 75% of Americans have admitted they’ve binge-watched. The average binge lasted a total of three hours and eight minutes. 87% of Gen Z, 90% of millennials, and 40% of those age groups binge-watch an average of 6 episodes in a sitting. During the coronavirus pandemic, binge-watching increased, because people were forced to stay indoors. People were spending more and more hours binging during the pandemic than at any other time.
Binge-watching can establish common ground between people, it can give people something to relate to. Romantic relationships can also be strengthened by binge-watching TV shows, it serves as quality time together. It helps partners bond, be together, laugh, and have a good time while watching a show they both enjoy. On the other hand, though, binge-watching can lead to mental health issues. The University Of Texas study found that binge-watchers are more likely to feel lonely, depressed, and have less self-control. When viewers watch too much TV, they become rampant. Watching TV can become an addiction, and it can cause viewers to ignore others, and become introverted.
In my opinion, I don’t think it’s wise to binge-watch TV every single day. I think everyone has lazy days, and it’s okay to watch one or two episodes of something you enjoy, but after that, I would take a break from watching anything. Give your eyes a break, and do something productive, something that can benefit you in a positive way.
Do you binge-watch TV? If so, what do you binge-watch?
Do you think binge-watching TV is good for you?
Is binge-watching fun?

I agree with what you said Im not a huge binge watcher but I definently agree that it isint the best for you because of the multiple health problems it can cause. I can see binge watching every once and awhile but if I did it all the time I would get bored.
Binge-watching TV is definetely not good for you, but sometimes it is nice to get a break and spend some time on the couch watching TV. I don't often binge-watch TV, I usually rather be on my phone when feeling lazy. Binge-watching TV can be fun but after awhile it can get boring.
I do not think that binge-watching TV is good for you. Spending that much time sitting down in front of a TV screen does not seem like you are getting enough exercise to keep your body healthy and in good shape. You could use that time to get other things done, like work or chores. You could also be using that time to do something more engaging like a video game, or a sport.
I think binge-watching is okay as long as it doesn't get in the way of your essentials. I think binge-watching can in a way be too fun as before you know it you have watched the entire show and not made the show feel less special.
Yes, I hate how I binge-watch a show and before I know it, it's over. Especially when it's a good show I go through it like it's nothing in like a week.
I have binge watches tv shows alot last summer. Recently, I haven't had time to even watch tv. So when I get back into having more free time, I will probably binge watch Greys Anatomy. Usually when I binge watch tv shows, It gives me a headache and I get bored just sitting there.
I binge watch TV shows on road trips, with my friendsand family, or in my free time. I love watching shows but I however dont think that binging a show for long periods of time is good for you. I think binge watching can be interesting and fun but can also lead to bad eyesight or some more serious problems if doing it to often. For this reason I dont think binge watching should be something you do regularly.
Yes, family road trips are when I binge-watch the most, it's mostly because I'm bored and have nothing to do.
I binge watch TV shows when I am bored, on a long road trip, or if I have nothing to do. I do not think that binging a show is good for you because you are watching a screen for a long period of time. This can lead to worse eyesight or bad health problems. I think that when you are watching something interesting, binge watching can be fun. It should not be something that you do regularly.
Personally I don't binge watch shows. I think that binge watching shows is not good for you since you are sitting in one spot staring at a screen for probably 5-6 hours. I think binge watching is fun if you watch something you like.
