First Full Size Replica of the Titanic

A Chinese firm starts building the first full sized replica of the Titanic. China has been known to have an interest with the ocean liner and have had people in search of the Titanic's blueprints. Su Shaojun, one of the financiers of the project said it has been underway for over two years, mainly due to the missing blueprints. Know they have obtained most of the blueprints, so they started the construction of the replica. The project will cost around 145 million dollars.

1. Do you think it is a waste of time and money for them to build a replica? Explain.

2. Would you go and see the first full size replica of the Titanic? Explain.

My Opinion:

1. I think that it is kind of a waste of time and money, because its not going to serve a purpose other than attract tourist. Also I think that it is cool because it is the first full size replica of the titanic and it shows people an imoprtant part of history.

2. I would go and see it if it was closer, because it's being built in China.

  • Well done Bailey!

  • I think it could be cool and could help some kind of research to find out what really happen with Titanic.

I would because it would be cool to actually see what the Titanic looked like pre-wreck.

  • Maybe if the second Titanic floats, it might not be a waste of time because they could improve the ship and avoid the accident that the Titanic had. Depending on where the second Titanic is, I would probably go see the replica because I would be able to see something before my life that has a story.

  • I think it is cool that they are making a replica because the titanic is a huge part of our history. Yes, I am easily fascinated with things like this, and I would defiantly go see it.

  • I do think it is a waste of money and a waste of time. People who know what happened with the titanic probably won't be willing to go on a replica in case the same thing happens. Its all up to them how they want to spend their money and their time but I think it is rather dumb. I don't think I would because I have no desire to go to China and if that is were it will be.. I probably never will.

  • I think that if they care that much about having an exact replica then they should do it. It can show people what being on the boat was actually like and inform people of the main voyage that killed so many people. I don't think I would unless I was in the area because I am not that interested in the titanic. But for those who are, I'm sure they would go and see historical ship.

    • I agree, They spent two years looking for blueprints, so they should build it. Also it is the first full size replica of the Titanic and a lot people would want to see it.

  • I think if they want it no but if they have no passion behind it then it would be a waste of time considering of how much money it costs. It also could bring in a huge amount of money because of the tourist it will attract. I would go see it because it is a huge part of our history and would be very interesting to see.

    • I agree, certain people would be more interested than others. I can see how it would bring in money, because lots of people would want to see it. The Titanic represents an important part of history and it would be cool to see the first full size replica.

  • I don't think this is a waste of time. I think if they make this into a museum, the revenue would soon outweigh the cost. I would want to go and see the replica sometime in my life. I have always been interested in the Titanic, therefore I would love to see the replica.
