Bottle Flipping is Driving Parents Crazy!

If you don't know what bottle flipping is it is when you flip a bottle and try to get it to land upright. Nicholas and Jhenya's parents hate the trend. They say their kids spend hours flipping bottles and not doing homework. It has become a problem they tell them they must do homework and other things before they can bottle flip. What started to as some harmless fun really caused some anger. The parents posted about it on Facebook and many more parents commented that they have the same problem. They parents have said that it gets annoying after awhile because of the sound of it hitting repeatably is obnoxious. It has gone as far as schools making bans on it. Many Adults including the teachers have spoken out against it and want it to stop. Event though it's harmless it has caused much controversy across the country.

The kids just think it's a fun way to waste time. It hasn't really caused trouble anywhere. I don't see why it is so stressed at some schools. For these kids I think they might be addicted though because they spend hours and hours. If you do that then I think it is a problem. But the kids shouldn't get punished when they could be doing far worse things than flipping a bottle.

What do you think about the bottle flipping craze? Explain?

  • Good topic and well done! You only commented on two different days, not three.

  • I usually don't mind it, but when people continuously try to flip the bottle and won't stop even when other people have asked them too, then it becomes extremely annoying. There have been some videos on the internet of impressive bottle flips but now I think it's getting out of hand. I don't think they have. Personally, I know that my Algebra teacher has kind of banned bottle flipping because students were making a habit of taking about 10 minutes out of every class period to bottle flip and there grades were dropping so I think it is very reasonable for schools to ban bottle flipping.

  • It is honestly really annoying to listen to when people keep failing to make it land. I do not like when people are constantly doing it because it is distracting and just annoying like I said. I saw a couple of cool ones on twitter when it first started but now they are all stupid. I think banning it is a good idea because some kids never stop doing it and banning it is the only way to make them stop.

  • I believe that it does pass time, personally I hate the trend because it is annoying and somewhat immature. Well the best i've seen is thrown up and landed on a clock. and no i believe that the schools that have banned it have not go too far. they think that it is distracting and it is true.

    • The distracting would only be caused during class. They would only need to ban it only during classes. Because it wouldn't be distracting in between if people wanted to just relieve stress.

  • I think the bottle flipping is just a way for kids to entertain themselves when they don't want to do something else. The best bottle flip I have seen is someone flipped it on the top of the lights outside the school.

    • But it also can be distracting during class. If kids just did it out of class it wouldn't be banned. Then we wouldn't have the conversation of this.

  • I think bottle flipping is just a simple way to have some fun and excitement. Many people are now trying to land it on its cap. I do think that schools have taken it far by banning it because it really is harmless. I can see where it becomes obnoxious, though. I think as long as it doesn't become a huge distraction in schools it is okay. If these kids are extremely addicted then it should stop for them

    • I see your point in this discussion. It is the schools call on the ban. I don't think its a big problem one either. They should focus on more serious things than flipping a little bottle.

  • i think it's kind of a fun way to pass my time when I'm bored. But, I can see by parents and schools are getting annoyed with it if it's distracting other students or the sound of the bottle hitting over and over again annoying the parents. I don't think it's taking it too far because it probably is pretty distracting. Most of the kids at our school bottle flip when it's between classes, so it doesn't really affect my learning. But, if kids started doing it during my class time I probably would want them to ban it. The best bottle flip I have seen is a video of a guy flipping 3 bottles at one time and they all landed or the one of the two girls flipping 2 bottles and one landed on the side and the other bottle landed on top of the other.
