In recent years many people seem to think teenagers are more impolite than in previous generations. Is this so? Every generation of teens is made by the social things in everyday life. Today teenagers are no different in fact they are the first generation to grow up saturated by mobile technology and social media.

In today's world teens are a lot more close with their parents compared to previous generations. In spite of that their life path has also been formed by income imbalance that depresses their hopes for their future. Analizing to previous generations many people believe that teens have less control over how their life turns out. Many believe this is because parents choose their life paths for them. Parents in today's generation are much more forceful about things like going to college than in previous generations leaving some kids feeling pressured and feeling like their parents pre determin their life.

Many believe that young people in today's world are more disrespectful than ever. Personally I think this has to do with today's communication mainly being passed  through mobile technology. Communication is indirect and going forward informal. Whereas traditions are passed on when talking face to face. Today many young teens would rather hide behind screens instead of interacting with one another face to face. Not to mention social media is influencing teens in their everyday life with some sort of trend. But why are these trends affecting the way teens are behaving some may ask. Many trends encourage extreme diets, exercise routines, and unrealistic body standards that can lead to disastrous behaviors. Some of these simple yet so easy trends are resulting with teens in malnutrition, physical injurey, mental health issues, and even depression.

In conclusion, the way teens act in today's world is much different from previous years. Due to the effect of electronics on people in the current generation. Whereas the older generation did not grow up with electronics to hide behind and interact with. Are electronics making teens addicted and selfish towards others?

Do you think teens now are more impolite than before? If so then why?

How could teens be more polite in today's world?

  • If teenagers are more impolite than past generations, its probably due to the fact that most of us haven't had to practice small talk thanks to texting. This causes us teens to not understand how to interact with other people in person. Trends are affecting the way teens are behaving because teens tend to feel a need to fit in.

    • I agree kids today act so much diffrent towards the older generation and its really sad.

  • I think kids are much ruder than they used to be simply because it's a lot easier with technology. Kids can easily hide behind a screen and comment mean, rude, and unnecessary things. Then this behavior transfers to daily life. Another way is kids stay up very late on their phones and their tiredness the next day can come off as rude and impolite and if people respond negatively it will only worsen the mood.

    • I totally agree with you this generation expecially is really bad about hiding behind screens and being very hurtful to others.

  • I think kids these days are much ruder and more impolite than they used to. Parents were much more strict back in the day and had more rules about behavior. Parents have soften up and been more lenient when it comes to the discipline of their kids. Their politeness depends on the environment that the kid grew up in.

  • I think that teenagers arern't as polite as they used to be. Parents of kids back in the day used to be way more set on their rules and how their kids should act. In the past paretns would disipline their kids if they weren't being polite or using manners. Nowdays kids don't really get punished much, parents are more laid back and aren't huge on disipline. I do think that electronics have an imoact on the way both kids and parents do things. Electronics are destractions that take time away from everyone. They can even change the way someone uses their manners and the way they present themselves to other people.

    • I agree back in the day there was more set rules you had to follow and kids today feel like they can break them.

    • I strongly agree with what you said. Excpecially about the change in parenting it has changed so much over the years. In todays world parents are so much more layed back then they used to be.

  • In my opinion i think teenagers were more polite before than today's teenagers because i feel like parents back then were way more strict than parents today. allthough there is teenagers today that are very polite but it depends on the education that they are getting at home, electronic devices can also be a reason why some teenagers are the way they are

    • Yes I strongly agree teenage behaviors are affected by the enviorment they grow up in.
