13 Year Old Murdering

You just might want to start listening in on people’s conversations especially while in restaurants. Two Virginia Tech college students; David Eisenhauer and Natalie Keepers, were just busted for plotting the killing of a 13 year old girl, while sitting in a fast food restaurant. Their plan also consisted of how to dispose and conceal Nicole Lovell’s body. David told Natalie how he would convince Nicole out of her room and house one night, take her to a remote location, then use a knife to cut her throat. The night of 7th grade Nicole’s murder, the couple headed to her house after leaving a Virginia Cook Out around midnight. Nicole’s mom, Tammy Weeks went to the bedroom and found the door barricaded. She noticed and open window, and saw that Nicole and her Minions blanket were missing. 3 days after an extensive search, the little girl’s body was found in the woods of North Carolina.

Natalie Keepers who is 19, was accused of being an accessory to murder before and after the fact. This means she only helped plan the murder, and then helped dispose of the body, but didn’t participate in the actual killing of Nicole. However, David Eisenhauer who is 18 was charged with both the abducting and murdering of Nicole.

David had an inappropriate relationship with Nicole (prior to the murdering), and she was going to expose their relationship. The police believe that is his reason for killing her. Natalie Keepers told the judge that she was “excited to be part of something secretive and special.” David Eisenhauer never admitted to the murder, but there was evidence from a social media app “Kik”.

----QUESTIONS----
1. What do you think their punishment should be?

2. What do you think of their reasonings for killing her?

3. Do you think parents need to check in on their kids social media accounts more often? Why or why not?

4. What can families do to help prevent this from happening to their kids?

My opinion: I think they should both go to jail for a long time, but David should go a little longer since he did the actual killing. I think they just need to stress them the importance of internet safety, and show them that they can come talk to them with problems, without being punished for it.

  • Great job Perri!

  • I think that they should both go to jail for a very long time. What they did was extremely wrong. Natalie should not go as long as David because David is the one who actually killed Nicole. I believe that they had an inappropriate relationship and I believe that Nicole was going to expose them. There is so many relationships like that. The parents have no idea what is happening in their children's lives and it can get out of hand. They start talking to college guys or high school guys and it ends up going too far. I think that a child has the right to privacy, but I do think at that age, parents still have some ability to check in on their social media accounts. She is only 13 years old. But from what I read in this article, the parents might not have found anything on her social media that would have prevented this from happening. I think the Kik messages were between David and Natalie. I think parents and families can talk to their kids more about internet safety and who you should or shouldn't talk to on social media.

  • I think they should be put in prison for the rest of their life. Any type of murder or kill is not okay. Why can't we just have world peace :) I don't think parents need to check in on kids social media unless they see something suspicious.

  • They should be thrown in jail forever. Their reasonings are the dumbest reasons I've ever heard in order to plan and kill someone. They should probably check them more often so stuff like this doesn't happen. They need to be more strict with raising them and giving the right punishments to them when they deserve it.

  • I think they should go to jail for the rest of their lives since they ended the life of such a young girl. She had so much ahead of her, collage, a wedding, kids, etc. and on top of that they ripped this girl away from her family. I agree with the police that David was trying to cover up his relationship with Nicole. Parents should definitely check on their kids social media accounts because then they can stop inappropriate relationships like this or they could save their kids lives from bullies. Families need to stress the rules and boundaries and they need to stick with their punishments. That's one thing I've noticed now a days, parents don't stick to their punishments so kids never learn from their mistakes.

  • I think that both David and Natalie should both go to jail. David actually killed her and Natalie knew about it and helped plan and get rid of Nicole's body. Many people have multiple social media accounts. I think that a person should be able to be trusted if they are 18 and it is their own fault what they post. Obivously, NIcole and her parents didn't know this was going to happen so there was nothing they could have done. I think that kids should learn how to be aware and make sure that they are making good decisions, even though this won't normally happen.

  • I think they should both go to jail. this is horrible. I think it is a dumb reason to kill the girl. Yes, for those kids who are not responsible or smart enough to know any better. Parents can put restrictions on phones, so kids can only do certain things.

    • Yes they should. I agree that it is, and yes very true. They do to some extent but need help to realize it.

  • I think that they should have the consequences they deserve, one thing that is wrong is the relationship between and 18 year old and a 13 year old. I dont think they really had a reason to kill her other than that Nicole was supposedly going to "expose their relationship" I think maybe this would have hurt him so he had to do something before things got bad. Parents to need to know what their kids are doing on social media, but they dont need to go through it; just know. There isn't a lot that a family can do to prevent unless he has said something like this to her before.

    • Yes very true, and there is no good reason. You're right there isn't much they can do because you never know how crazy someone will actually be.
