16. Describe reasons people moved westward in the early parts of our history.
Everyone lived in East part of US. They moved westward because it was crowded, they wanted adventure, to gain land to farm more, to get gold and other riches. Europeans tried to do the same.

North was more idustrialized rather than agriculture like the South. The South used slaves to fit their agricultural needs. The North didn't aprove to the use of slaves and became the free states. There were 11 states on both sides. Popular soveigrnty- people vote for what they want. Dread Scott case- said that slaves were not people, they were property. Ab Lincoln was elected during this time
18. Describe the advantages of the North and South during the Civil War.
North: more industrialized, better weapons, more people, more stuff due to factories, more railroads, more food
South: fought on there territory, better generals, better connections with foreign countries, better motivation(save way of life)
19. Define Reconstruction and give positive and negative effects Reconstruction had done on the US
south had to be rebuilt. needed economic help. what will we do with the African Americans? was a big question that they had. Freedman's Bureau was set up- African Americans were taught, trained, housed, fed, helped them keep up with neccesary ways of life. 13 Ammendment- abolish slavery 14 Ammendment-African Americans were considered US citizens 15 Ammendment- African American men could vote which made whit females feel unrespected. Reconstruction lasted twelve years Things got bad again
