Out of all American Sports, I've noticed that Softball and Baseball tend get the most talk about which one is harder. These sports are both very popular men and women sports that seem to be very similar, yet very different.
Of course, Baseball is the sport most men will agree to say is harder than softball. These reasons may include a smaller ball to hit, wider bases making it hard for runners to steal, and a super steap backstop for the catcher. Also, a baseball is definetly not as bright and big as a softball, making it sometimes hard to see and read. The men who play baseball are with out a doubt stronger, bigger, and faster which can lead to a hard and fast tempo of the game. Not to mention there are 9 innings in a game instead of 7, requiring more indurance and stamina from players. Also, the actual diamond is way bigger than a softball diamond, which can actually be a disadvantage to baseball players. For example, big fields mean big gaps for hitters to hit through, making the outfielders job harder. Although, baseball bases are 90 ft apart, and softball bases are 60 ft apart, making it difficult for runners to steal. So yes, size can definetly play a big role in this debate between baseball and softball.
Again, softball is a sport where most women will agree to say is harder than baseball. First off, though the tempo of baseball can be fast, due to the close distance of softball bases and the field, softball requires a faster tempo and reaction time. For example, a softball pitcher is only 43 ft away from home plate, and has a low to high motion, meaning the hitter will need a faster reaction time. Although, a baseball player has a high to low pitching motion, giving the batter more time to react. To be more specific, a softball player has .350 seconds to react and decide if they even want to swing, where as a baseball will reach the plate at .38 seconds. Also, in softball, left-handed batters may have the ability to slap hit, making it harder for an infielder to field and throw her out, considering softball players already have 50% less of a reaction time than baseball players, who actually have around 4.3 seconds to react and throw the batter out. Even though I talked about the disadvantages of a big baseball field, which is around 16,700 square ft, it actually does give baseball players more time to react.
Really, I can see both sides of the debate when it comes to which sport is harder. They all have tons of advantages and disadvantages, especially when coming to size. Although, what do think? Is baseball the harder sport, or is softball to baseball as tennis is to ping-pong?

Which sport do you think is harder?

I don't know which one I think is harder since they both have different rules and it depends on what gender you are. I think some things about baseball are harder like the fact that the ball is smaller and the field is bigger, but also some things about softball can be harder too.
I agree with you. Baseballs are much smaller than a bright yellow softball, making it harder to field, catch, and especially hit. Also, it does have an impact on what gender you are. Guys are just naturaly fast, stronger, and more athletic thans girls making opinions on this topic vary.
I'm not really sure which is harder becuae each are different and the rules that make up each can make it harder or easier. I do think that it is hard for both genders, because each one is different. And if I do have to say which one is harder, I would say baseball.
I feel like comparing these two sports is very difficult. They both have their more difficult ways of playing. I think that most girls think that softball is harder because they can actually experience the sport, and most boys probably say baseball is harder because they can experience the game. It all depends on the person comparing the two sports.
I think they can be hard depending on the way you play it and who you are. They both have hard parts in order to play the game and rules that you have to follow in order to play the game. Guys might like playing baseball more than softball because that is the sport that they are used to.
I think baseball is harder the softball becasue they treat the girl easer then the boys so there more basses and there closer together. But they are almsot the same just a little bit harder. That what i trhink.
I feel like it is really difficult to compare these two sports. I think that they both are fit to the athletic level of males and females. Because males are typically physcially and genetically stronger, their sport may seem harder for women to play. However, certain aspects of softabll may prove to be difficult for males. I think both are difficult depending on who is playing the sport.
I think that baseball is harder for many reasons. Baseball has pitchers that throw at higher speeds, bigger field, and more talent.
They both try equally hard in their sports. However, in baseball, the balls are pitched faster bases are further apart the field is bigger I'm not saying a girl couldn't do well in baseball and hit it equally as far as a man. But softball has its own challenges like the pitched ball is coming from an underhand position rather than an overhand. They can't take leads of bases and other rules that make the sport more difficult.
I have never played softball, so I don't really know how it works. My little brother plays baseball and it seems like a tough sport. I know for pe, we play games like, kickball, and we play it baseball style. Its pretty tough because i'm not very fast.
