As you know, multiple stores are now using self check-out stations. You see them everytime you walk into a grocery store. Many people have different opinions on self check-out stations. CNN gives us pros and cons on why people think they may or maynot be good.
Pros:
People think that it's faster than human cashier. Some stores also see themselves as being competitive with other stores. People want to shop at the better stores. According the CNN, the pandemic also changed the way people shop because it made it so you wouldn't have to be around other people. After the pandemic it was harder for stores to find people that want to work as cashiers.
Cons:
CNN states, "According to a survey last year of 1,000 shoppers, 67% said they’d experienced a failure at the self-checkout lane." That is over half of the people that have problems or errors when checking-out. After this many years you think they would have it figur out. According to CNN, self check-out have less security than human check-outs. Which means the stores have more shoplifters and the store loses money. Also, the machines are expensive to install and keep them working. Self check-out machines have been since the early 1900's. The purpose was to lower the prices of what was on the shelf, because they didn't have to pay for someone else to check them out (CNN Business). "The system reduced cashier costs by as much as 66%, according to a 1988 article in the Miami Herald.", states CNN.
I'm against self check-out stations, because if I was in a rush to get somewhere and one of the items didn't ring up, I may not know. Then when I walked through the sensors, they would start beepingI, and could be accused of shoplifting. Also, it takes away jobs from people who may need the money.

I think that self check outs are nice and convenient for customers and workers the only time you would be stuck waiting is if all the registers were full and there wouldnt need to be as many people working with self checkout since it is done by the customer. However I could see it being easier to shoplift if a worker isint paying close attention on you scanning all items.
I think that self-checkout would be an easier way for shoplifting if there is not an employee standing the the cash registers at all times. I like the idea of getting self-checkout at most stores, it's a much easier and faster option for people.
I think it's easier in a sense to shoplift, but it does make everything way easier. Although, if somebody doesn't prefer self checkout they should have the option for a worker to do it for them.
It isn't really easy to shoplift, because there is always an employee watching the cashiers, like in Fareway since I wokr there. It isn't really putting a stop to jobs, because they still need cashiers if people prefer the old way, and they need someone to watch and clean the self-checkouts, and sometimes take out the groceries, because I work at Fareway.
I think it is easier for people to shoplift becuase they dont have someone checking out for them so they know they got everything. They have people watching you but not very close like they should i dont feel like. Cause half of the time they are just on their phone or there just simply is not enough people to watch you like they should. I mean ya they make it faster for people but it still doesnt help with shoplifting
I think that it is easier for people to shoplift, in one of my Walmart adventures, I saw a woman who only passed four things and had a bunch of stuff in her cart, but when she headed outside no one said anything, and the alarm didn't ring. I think that self check out is a great way to be fast and learn how to use money and other skills, because, I remember the huge lines that used to go all the way to the end of the store, but with self checkout its easier to avoid that and its faster, even though people use it for bad things.
Self checkout stations make the process of checking out go faster because their not not as big of lines. Some people like to check themselves out instead of having someone else do it. I think shoplifting is a factor with these self checkout stations.
I don't like self check out. Reason being is it make easy for people to walk out with stuff without buying it. Some people don't knoiw how to use them the best so then worker are up there helping so why no tmake them check stuff out. Also somethimes you haev to pay with a credit card olny and no cash.
I think self checkout makes shopping faster and more simple. Yes, there are concernes for shoplifting, although most stores have alarms and scanning systems that activates if someone is trying to steal. I wish more stores and shops had self checkout to make things go smoother and quicker.
I think that self-checkout stations do make shoplifting easier because at some stores they don't have people watching them. I think the self-checkouts are easy and efficient so you can scan your items, pay and leave. I do not think that self-checkut stations are putting a dent in jobs.
