As you know, multiple stores are now using self check-out stations. You see them everytime you walk into a grocery store. Many people have different opinions on self check-out stations. CNN gives us pros and cons on why people think they may or maynot be good.
Pros:
People think that it's faster than human cashier. Some stores also see themselves as being competitive with other stores. People want to shop at the better stores. According the CNN, the pandemic also changed the way people shop because it made it so you wouldn't have to be around other people. After the pandemic it was harder for stores to find people that want to work as cashiers.
Cons:
CNN states, "According to a survey last year of 1,000 shoppers, 67% said they’d experienced a failure at the self-checkout lane." That is over half of the people that have problems or errors when checking-out. After this many years you think they would have it figur out. According to CNN, self check-out have less security than human check-outs. Which means the stores have more shoplifters and the store loses money. Also, the machines are expensive to install and keep them working. Self check-out machines have been since the early 1900's. The purpose was to lower the prices of what was on the shelf, because they didn't have to pay for someone else to check them out (CNN Business). "The system reduced cashier costs by as much as 66%, according to a 1988 article in the Miami Herald.", states CNN.
I'm against self check-out stations, because if I was in a rush to get somewhere and one of the items didn't ring up, I may not know. Then when I walked through the sensors, they would start beepingI, and could be accused of shoplifting. Also, it takes away jobs from people who may need the money.

I like how at fareway there is still alot of checkers and self checkout stations. I feel like self checkouts are very helpful and very efficicent. There is usually alwsy someone there to makesure there is no stealing. I don't think it is putting a dent in the number of jobs out there for people.
Self-checkout makes shoplifting way easier, but I don't think it's so bad to a point to get rid of it. I don't think it is making a dent in the number of jobs for people. I like using self-checkout better than having a person scan and bag my things for me.
Shoplifting will always be a problem and self-checkouts aren't helping, but I don't think the problem is great enough for the stories to change the system. The only people I think are being affected by this are people who are getting new jobs.
It obviously would be easier for individuals to shoplift with self check-outs. Although this is the case, I am curious if the number of shoplifted items makes self check-outs not worth the advantages. I do not think self check-outs are significantly impacting the number of jobs available.
Depending on the store the self check out is hard to steal from. Fareways have a camer that detects any item not paid for. It is not putting a big dent cause usually there is still a person or 2 there to help.
Big pros. You dont have to deal with people. you can fo it at your space. You dont have to go threw the whole someone asking if you wanna donate to something. 1/2 the time there isnt much of a line and you can get stuff done faster.
I don't think that it is easier to shoplift because there are still workers watching over the self check-out area. I think that it could cause a drop in jobs because there are less jobs of cashiers. However, I don't think it would cause a big impact on job oppourtunities.

I think that your replies have to be longer so he can count them in your grade because he said that he won't count them they have to be one or two lines.
I think it is good for when you dont want to talk to people, but there are some time where it can get annoying because sometimes the worker has to help because you did something wrong.
