On December 6th, The Game Awards were held to announce many things such as the best E-sports player, best performances, and of course the famed Game Of The Year award. The game awards also act like a mini-E3, with trailers for new games and announcement of things in upcoming games, such as a Psychonauts 2 trailer, another announced playable character in Smash Ultimate, and a new Far Cry game. For Game of the Year, the award went to God of War, a controversial choice considering the popularity of the new Red Dead Redemption 2 coming out a month before. Fortnite got best multiplayer game/best ongoing game considering how it is still rising in numbers even today. Tyler Blevins, also known as "Ninja," got the best content creator of the year award considering his incredible rise in popularity on twitch, and Sonic Fox got the best e-sports player of the year award. The awards were quite expansive, considering the variety of content shown, so in the end this was a great way to increase hype around gaming, especially with the release of Smash Ultimate today.

What are your opinions on the winners, what games did you wish to see at the awards?
I think that RDR2 should have got game of the year, and I am surprised how Rainbow Six Siege didn't get "Best ongoing game award" considering it's resilience after 3 years of being around, compared to Fortnite which is barely 1.
What categories do you think should be added to the awards list?
I'd advocate for a "best visual novel" category, considering how much story can be carried throughout those style of games.

Interesting topic and well done Kyle!
I do not play video games, and therefore do not know anything related to this topic. I do not know what types of games I would want to see in the awards. I think that visual effects could be a cool category for people to try and win. But again, I know nothing about video games.
I seriously do not know anything about video games. This is very hard for me to talk about because I really do not have any knowledge, but I will do my best. From what I have heard from the boys at school, Fortnite is the favorite game right now. It takes a very creative mind to come up with games that people will be willing to play. If I have to guess what kind of games most people would vote on, I would say more violent games. What I mean by this is, is games with guns and different weapons that people can use in games but can't in real life. Like I said I have never really participated in video games at all.
I am not really familar with video games. However, I think this year Fortnite has been very popular and lots of people play it so I am suprised it did not get more awards. I think a category created should be most unique and have a game win that is a tatally new style of game that has never been invented before.
I dont play video games so I dont really know anything about it but I guess the winners all deserved the prizes for example I can understand that the game fortnite got a prize because even I heard of that game and I really dont have a clue when it comes to stuff like that.
I guess that the most games that were on the award list are kind of violent games and basically more for boys than for girls so maybe there should be more different games and also some that are less violent.
I don't really follow video games or play them all that much so I don't really care who won so I don't really have an opinion because just like I said I don't really follow video games nor do I play or watch them. I wouldn't know categories to add either because like I've siad before I just am no that into video games.

I'm not a huge gamer so I don't really know who I think should've won. However, in my opinion I think the most popular/best gamer should be chosen as winner. Again I don't really know what categories there are to begin with so I don't know what should be added.
I believe RDR2 should've got game of the year rather than God of War, based on how many other people I've heard arguing about it. RDR2 seems to be talked about way more then God of War.
I don't know much about The Game Awards so I can't make a contribution to this question. I'm sure it could use many new categories, however, because everything could improve.
I'm not really a gamer but some people are really into gaming. I think that the person who should be chosen is the most liked/popular gamer. I don't really have a favorite game category just because I never play games.
