President trump hosted his top military brass and their spouses a dinner on Thursday night. Following the dinner President Trump and few reporters exchanged the following words:
Trump: "You guys know what this represents? Maybe it's the calm before the storm."
Reporter: "What's the storm?"
Trump: "It could be ... the calm, the calm before the storm."
Reporter: "Iran? ISIS? What storm, Mr. President?"
Trump: "We have the world's great military people in this room, I will tell you that. And uh, we're gonna have a great evening, thank you all for coming."
Reporter: "What storm, Mr. President?"
Trump: "You'll find out."
Reporters tried to ask Trump what these statements meant, but Trump refused to tell them. Reporters were trying to decide which situation "calm before the storm" implied to. Could it be Iran or North Korea? But the President wouldn't tell. People want to know why president Trump would say something like this and then not tell them what this was about. Reporters think that it was just to keep the media watching. People also believe that the reason he said this was to keep people watching the media.
The Majority of Trumps past is a media star and a producer. This should not be carried over into the role of being a president. The goal of being a reality T.V. star is to stoke drama. But this goal should be different than the goal of being the president of the United States.

My opinion:
I would have been rather upset and probably angry. Why would you say something like that and then never actually tell everyone what it means. It is kind of infuriating. I think that the calm before the storm could mean lots of things, But i think it probably means some type of armed conflict with other areas of the world. I think it is this because why else would he say something like this and not say what it means. But now he has the whole world paying attention.

i would have felt like the us is better off having someone thats not scared to defend the states. back in ww2 we didn't know the military did anything will around 2 weeks after they did what they were going to do. i think its good that trump wont tell people exactly what he plans to do.
I probably would have been confused and kind of scared because you never know what he could be planning to do and if it could be dangerous for us. I think that this statement could have meant that there might be some attacks being planned on another country or maybe he knows about some other things that are going on in the world that might involve us.
If I was at the dinner and he said something like that I would become really suspicious. Normally when people say things, they know exactly why they said things. I would also be very curious on what he means. I think that calm before the storm can mean we are calm before possible conflicts including Iran, North Korea, all of the tropical storm damage, forest fires, and anything that is affecting our country.
Yes, usually people would say something like this at a nice dinner. When people say things, people usually know what they are talking about, But obviously Trump doesn't think the same thing.
I think hes just stirring the pot, hes used to leaving people on a cliff hanger and so why not continue that as a president. I think calm 'before the storm' is just a way to say 'look out, im not sure if anything is going to happen but I want to seam mysterious'.
Good point, maybe he doesn't really have any plans for what this means. Maybe he just said to to keep us watching the media. Maybe it truly is just a warning to everyone.
I would be confused and anxious, but I would stay emotionless for my sake. I think he is referring to this time right now, is the 'calm' and the storm will be coming either from North Korea or to North Korea. I think his phrase was for North Korea, since conflict is still rising.
It would probably be better to stay emotionless. Just to keep the people around you sane. He didn't have to say anything. But he did.
He hasn't said anything about it before this. It amazes me that he would say something like this just out of the random and not tell anyone what it meant.
