Texting....Bad for your health??

Do you send more than 120 Text messages a day??  Apparently if you do you are an excessive texter, making you at risk to have a more risky behavior.  Doctor Scott Frank completed a study with 4000 highschoolers that "hyper text" sending more than 120 texts on a school day.  He says that his results show him that students who hyper text are more likely to drink, do drugs, and have sex at an earlier age.  He also says he found the same result for kids who hyper networked, spending more than three hours on social networking websites.  He seems pretty sure of his findings, but then again it was one school, in a large city, and he isn't a teenager, obviously.  So what do you think about his results, acurate or not?  Link.

  • i think hes kind of stereotyping teenagers who text. i text and use social networking websites quite a lot, but i dont even think about doing that stuff...
  • I think thats completely insane. First of all, I don't get why people text that much when they're at school anyways. I mean do you really not have anyone to talk to IN school? Anyways, I think that kind of thing is based on individual people like their home lives and stuff. Texting has nothing to do with it.
  • Maybe that school just has a problem with that, and it's just the more people are texting the more those kids are talking to those who do those things, and so they are under negative peer pressure.
  • haha i hardly text and i have done those things believe it or not.
  • i think that he is partially right, i mean, there are a ton of things that lead to drinking, drugs, and sex. This may be one of them. I think that there are too many factors leading to this problem to pinpoint a specific act.
  • I don't think that is very accurate. I talk to a lot of people during the day, and I have never even thought about doing any of those things. It might be likely to some, but saying all teenagers are most likely to do that isn't true.
  • I don't think that these results are always going to be true, it just depends on the person
  • That is really weird. Well i don't send 120 every day but still i send a lot. That is a good scientific test that should be done all around the world . Yet again everyone makes bad choices here and there.
  • i think that his results are partially true because teenagers are not the ones who stick to a certain things they are always changing.
  • I think this is very acurate for the social networking one but not about the texting one. Its just seems so weird that texting would make you act like that.
