Have you ever been taking a timed test and you realize that you're almost out of time? Well, I'm sure most students have been in that situation. The College Board has decided to redesign the SAT so that they're a lot shorter, this will give the students more time to take the test. The majority of students around the world believe that timed tests don't show what we know. Most students feel pressured because of the time so they don't perform their best. If they aren't doing their best on the timed test then that means that the scores are inaccurate. That's not fair to the students. Their intelligence should not be determined by inaccurate test scores.
These timed tests are holding students back from performing as well as they can. A student at Heritage Academy High School said “ I have always hated timed tests because they do make my performance worse purely because of the time constraint.” I agree with this. Whenever I take a timed test I notice i'm focusing more on the fact that I'm running out of time than on the test itself. Timed tests aren't fair to anyone even if they do well on them. I need time to be able to go over what I just did. I shouldn't have to rush myself on a test just so I can get done in time.
I think it's time we get rid of timed tests or maybe give a little more time on the test depending on what we’re testing on. Some students believe that we shouldn't get rid of timed tests at all and that we should keep them the same. They believe that if you can't finish the test in the given time then you should study harder. While that could be true for some people not everyone performs the same while taking a test. Another student mentioned that as we’re growing up we will be put into stressful situations. This is true but I don't think we should deal with that while taking a test. We should have the opportunity to do our best on the test.
Do you think we should still be taking timed tests?
Do you think timed tests are fair to everyone?
Do you find it hard to focus when taking a timed test?

Good topic choice and summary Vylet! Be sure to continue replying all week. It was posted a bit late as well.
I personally do not think we should take timed tests. I think that every student is different in the way that they take their test and how long it takes them. So setting a time limit on it, is not fair to all of the students. I find that there is a lot more pressure added when there is a time limit.
I do not think we should be taking timed tests. Every student compresence things at different rates. So it is unfair for test to be timed because of that and because just knowing that they only have a certain amount of time would stress students out. This could cause them to do worse then they would without a time limit.
In my opinion I do not think that tests should be timed. Even if you have studied the information, taking a test can still take a long time, especially in written tests. During written tests you should be writing as much as you know to show that you were listening and studying. If a test is timed, students don't have enough time to write down everything that they know. I don't think that timed tests are fair for everyone because all people learn and remember things at a different pace.
I do not think that a time limit shoulld be set on a test because some students take longer on tests than others whether they want to be more accurate or they have just spaced out for a portion of the test, i do not find it harder to focus on a timed test.
I don't think timmed tests should still be takened, I think that its important for students to take their own time to do it, so they can end up getting a good performance on it. I don't see timmed tests being fair for everyone, some people are quick and others are slow.
In my opinion I think we shouldn't have timed tests because a student could be pressured to finish so they rush. I think timed tests are not fair to everone because not everybody can finish a test in a certain amount of time. I find it hard to focus during a timed test because I feel like I need to rush through the test.
Although I understand the disadvantages of taking timed tests, I believe that some tests should be timed. Efficiency is incredibly important, and it should not be overlooked. After your education, you might find that doing something correctly is important, but not as valuable if you spend too much time.
No I don't think that we should still be taking timed tests. I personally feel like it distracts me more than anything because I am sitting their worried about how much time I have left on my tests.
I dont think we should be taking timed tests cause for personal experience whenever the test is times I always try to rush through it to make sure I answer all the questions. I don't think timed tests are fair to everyone cause some people work at different speeds and some people need more time.
