Should Animal Testing be Prohibited?

Animal testing started all the way back in 500 B.C., in Greece. During this time using animals was a normal testing to acquire knowledge of the functions of a living organism. Many countries have already prohibited animal testing including a few big countries like Australia and Mexico. The top used animal for animal testing are rats and mice, followed by birds and fish. There are many ways of animal testing that poeple use. Animal testing has gone up a lot over several years.

There are many people on each side of this topic. Many say we shouldnt have animal testing but then many say we should. Many people say yes becuase it helps us make sure that the product they are testing is safe for humans. Another reasons people may lean towards yes is because it helps us understand and know how good medicane or drugs might work. This can also help scientist change what they need to make it safe and reliable. On the other side of this topic many say no. They may say that the results of animal testing may not be the same effectively when humans use it. This could cause many issues when it comes to harmal products being apporved for humans to use when they really are not good for us.

People have started to look into a alternitive for animal testing. Scientists have thought about a alterinitive like computer modeling, advanced imagining techniques and using cells and tissues in a lab instead of using animals in a lab. I think we could definatially find a alterinitive for this topic. Some countries have switched over to having to have a permit to animal test. They made this a law and some of these countries so they can minimalize the suffering of the animals that get put through animal testing and to make sure of ethical treatment.

I beileve that we should not have animal testing. I think that we could definiatally find a more reliable and less harmful way to make sure products are safe for humans. Also I think they should leave it up to the state on whether they can animal test or not. If we dont get rid of animal testing they should at least have to get a apporval from the state you are in to test something on a animal before you can do it so that people arnt testing random products and drugs on animals and over using it.

Do you think we should have animal testing?

Do you think the alternatives would be a good options?

    • I agree with you I think that we shouldnt have it unless it is useful. Or another option is to keep it and just have a alterinitve so not to many animals are being put through testing. I also agree that it okay as long as the animals arnt getting treated poorly.

  • I think it would be nice to have alternatives to this, but I also think it would be hard to find something that equally compares. As of now we haven't found a good alternative, and I think animal testing has been succesful so far. If it isn't causing problems I don't see why we should have to come up with another way to find this information.

    • Yes I agree, i think a alternitive would be nice just in case of anything happening. But since it has been working for us and there hasnt been to many problems I think it would be fine if we kept it.

  • I think that animal testing is useful in some cases. It helps to learn more about human life and health without having to do this testing on a human. As long as these animals are taken care of during this process I don't see why it would be a problem. I think there are many benefits in testing on animals, and most of these are not harmful, meaning we shouldn't get rid of this.

    • I also think that it is a good way to find information out without testing on humans. There are many ways why it should stay and many why it shouldn't stay.

  • I disagree. I think animal testing should still be used as long as the animals are treated ethically. Testing should only be done if absolutely necessary, and there should be strict guidelines in place to make sure the animals don't suffer. In the end, I think the benefits of animal testing are too important to completely stop using them, and if they are treated humanely animal testing can help move science forward.

    • I agree with you. It should only be done if we really need it. Your right there should be strict rules and guildlines they have to follow so they are not being cruel to the animals.

    • I agree with you, I think it is really beniftting and if nothing is happening with it why get rid of it. But i also agree that the testing should only be done if its completely necessary. Also that there shpuld be strict guidlines so the animals being testing are not suffering.

  • I think animal testing can be useful if the animals are treated humanely. It's important because testing is necessary for getting better information on science and human health, and the animals should be cared for during this process. As long as there are policies to make sure the animals are not having unnecessary pain, animal testing is important for developing medicines and other products that benefit humans.

  • I think having alternative options would be a good idea and wouold be a lot more ethical than testing on animals that have life yet to live. However, I don't think that we have found too many working alternatives yet and we still need to test medicines and other supplements so at the moments, we haver to use animals but I think permits would be a good thing to have aswell.
