Netflix Raising Prices

Netflix is raising their monthly premium for all devices. They are adding two dollars to each plan so if your bill was $9.99 to $11.99 if you had a cost of $10.99 to $13.99. The basic price is still at $7.99. It will not affect existing members yet they will get a letter in the mail when it happens. The purpose is to make the Network faster and have newer movies. The increases help with the company as the put more money into Developing Original Programming. They have spent $15.7 billion to streaming.

1) What are your thoughts on the price increase on Netflix?

I like the idea because if we can get our movies to load faster and have newer ones all the time.

2) Why should the new members have to pay new price and not all of us.

The new people should have to pay more because they are the experiment.

  • Good topic choice but be sure to reply to more student comments next time.

  • I think that it would be good to increase the number of movies and make it faster. Netflix is amazing and maybe it could be even more amazing. However, I think that it shouldn't affect everyone; people who want more movies should pay more and people who aren't interested shouldn't have to pay more.

  • 1. I think that it's a great idea. The price is still very low for how much Netflix has to offer, so them wanting to make it better for their costumers, I think, is a great idea. They are improving their company, and 2 dollars isn't that much to ask for to do that.

  • I think if Netflix is improving the fastness and having newer movies, a couple of dollars more would be fine to pay. If it doesn't work like they plan it to, I can imagine that people would not be very happy with Netflix. I think that new members and old members should have to pay the same because Its not fair to the new members. If they make both pay more than it could be one dollar more for everyone.

    • The old members like you and I will have to start paying more each month on November 1, 2017. I agree that Netflix doesn't work that good either but it's cheaper than Hulu.

  • I like this, i think that if you have 2 dollars to get an iced coffee from Starbucks every morning then you have enough to get Netflix for a month if thats what you really want.  I think that they are trying to make it so that we stay with them and not go to another provider. In a while I think they will raise the price for everyone.

  • I think that 2 extra dollars will be okay for some people to spend so they can get access to more movies and shows faster. I think that the people will be okay with this price rise as long as Netflix does what it says it's going to. I don't think that the previous members should have to pay the 2 dollars until the notice because they have already been paying there money every month longer than newer members.

  • I think the price increase on Netflix will be beneficial as long as the network is made faster and newer movies are available. To me, the extra two dollars would be worth it for those advantages. It seems as though new members will need to pay the new price because they haven't yet joined Netflix. It's fair for current Netflix members to pay the current price until they are notified of the price rise, due to the fact that they have had Netflix for some time now.

  • I think that the price change is fine as long as the subscribers get more out of the program as well. The price change is to better our watching experience and expand the library of movies and shows. I don't think its fair but I also know that I don't want to pay more than I am for it. I think that they are probably only charging them because they are new and haven't been there through the years so they probably don't know that the pricing has changed.

  • I like this idea if they actually do increase streaming load times with the money given. And for the original programming, I only like Stranger Things and Bojack Horseman, so they should really put more money to the ones that are most successful and drop others. And I suppose that the reason that the bill is happening to newcomers instead of old users, is so it doesn't send away long time users.
