Kathy for Kaepernick

Comedian Kathy Griffin has recently made a statement to quarterback Colin Kaepernick over twitter. She tweeted, “Your activism has come at a price but you haven’t backed down...not even once. Thank you for leading the way,”  Kaepernick has been kneeling at his games during the national anthem and has started an uproar across the country. Earlier in the year, Griffin had a picture posted of her with a fake head with blood of Donald Trump. She is now saying denying this as and has stated, “I will openly accuse the President of the United States of human rights violations.”

 1. What are your thoughts about the comment she made after the ordeal with Trump?

I think it's her opinion and like everybody else she is just stating her side and views. I think she can do whatever she wants and I guess she won't let Trump stop her.

2. What are your thoughts about kneeling during the anthem?

I think it is disrespectful to our country and the people who have fought for it. Although I do see and respect the point of him bringing attention to police brutality, I think he could've done it in a different way.

  • Good job overall! You really should have gone in last night to comment.

  •  I think it is her right to do and say whatever she wants. Good for her for standing up for what she believes in. Trump can't stop her from having the right to speak freely. I personally think that they are expressing their right to protest the national anthem. They are not protesting Trump or the flag or the people who died for our country. They are trying to publicize that things need to be different. These days our country is deeply divided, and there is a lot of racism and bigotry. How they're are protesting is frankly working pretty well, despite the foolish tweets of our wonderful president who has bigger issues he should be worried about, they're doing a good job of getting their message across.

  • I agree. If she agrees with Kaepernick, then she should be allowed to express that on her social media. We live in a country that encourages freedom of speech, all she's doing is expressing that freedom. I totally agree with you that kneeling during the anthem is disrespectful. He could have thought of another way to protest.

  • She has the right to share her personal opinion, as do people who kneel during the anthem. They don't hate their country, they hate racism and bigotry. They aren't saying that our troops haven't sacrificed, they are saying that things need to change. Free speech is important. Every citizen has the right to peacefully protest.

    • I like the way you view the situation and I believe it's right. I agree that things do need to change.

  • I personally don't care for Kathy Griffin, because she did have that picture of her with a fake head of Trump, and the media went nuts. But it is her opinion, and people have the right to express their opinions, no matter how ridiculous it is. I think its disrespectful, people fight for our country, some dying in the process, and yet people kneel during the anthem. It makes me think they're ungrateful for their semi-safe lives. But its better than hearing about riots and people looting stores, or even shootings.

    • Personally, I do not know her but I agree with the controversial picture of her. I agree with you that it is her opinion. I also agree with the dis respectfulness of it and it also makes me feel they're ungrateful.

  • I believe that it's her opinion. I don't know a lot about her so I can't say much. All I got to say is that everyone has their own opinion and they have every right to express is peacefully. I think it's okay that athletes can express their feelings, I'd rather see a football player kneeling during the National Anthem and not see a group of people going out and rioting and looting.

    • I agree with you I do not know much of her either and everybody has their own opinion. I like your point of bringing up our first amendment of right of speech. I would not know what to say about the rioting and looting but I agree with the national anthem being disrespectful.
