Don't sit on chinese benches.

We all know China is a new kind of overpopulated. You know, the big city lots of people. Teeming with people really. And of course on weekends, they all want to sit in the parks and enjoy themselves. But oh no you don't, a million other people their and they all want to sit on the benches.

Solution?-Spikes. Steel spikes on a coin-operated timer. If you're a visitor at Yantai Park in the Shangdong province you better watch your tail end. You linger too long and a dozen spikes shoot through the seat. Thankfully, the spikes aren't long enough to cause any serious harm-but long enough to get you off the bench.

The park bosses got the idea from a german sculptor, Fabian Brunsing, created a similar bench as a protest against commercialisation of modern life.

"He thought he was exaggerating. He didn't foresee that a very practical country like China might actually USE them for real."

  • Thats insane. But kinda funny haha. i would like to see people reactions when it happens to them.
  • I don't think anyone would allow that in the United States but its a smart yet cruel solution.
  • They should for sure have a camera taping this part of the park at all times. But seriously, ouch! A dozen spikes in my hiney would definitely make me not want to ever sit on those benches again.
  • ouch!! hilarious, but smart.. i wouldnt want to be the one sitting on those benches!
  • well thats um stupid ppl should be able to sit with out woryying bout that
  • they spent money on putting spikes on benches rather than just getting more benches? not too bright
