Civilian Causalities Continue to Grow

A new report issued by the US coalition says that at least 229 civilians have been killed since the US coalition started air strikes in Syria almost 3 years ago. The number of civilian casualties is estimated to rise due to the bombings of Mosul. Head Iraqi forces have recovered 141 bodies of dead civilians. More and more bodies are being recovered from the areas of Iraq, Syria, and Mosul. The US coalition issued a statement that said they regret the unintentional loss of civilians. Over 18,000 airstrikes took place between August of 2014 and February of 2017.

Questions:

1. Do you think that these airstrikes are helping get rid of ISIS?

2. Do you think that the US should stop these airstrikes?

3. Do you think it's fair for the innocent civilians to have to go through this?

  • Well done overall. Be sure to hyperlink correctly and include opinions within your summary. -5 late

  • I think that this is killing civilians and i don't think it will get rid of ISIS. I think the US should do whatever they think that will help us stay protected from ISIS. I don't think the civilians should have to deal with this but there's really no other way.

  • I feel like the more of these airstrikes we do the more the ISIS problem will go down. I would hope that ISIS would see how much damage we can do and they would be scared. If they are helping then no. Well if they are in the ISIS are while these strikes happen then chances are they would die in a worse way if ISIS got to them.

  • I do think these strikes are helping ISIS realize what they are doing to the civilians and they should know by now that they need to stop. I do think these strikes should stop because people are dying but they won't stop until they lose too many.

  • I think they are helping to fight ISIS because we have killed a lot of their leaders and many other troops. I don't think we should stop because we have to stop them somehow and this si the safest for US. I don't think it is fair to them but war is war and people die.

  • I think that it is showing them that we can fight back. i think that they should keep doing airstrikes. but I also think that they should stop because it could cause bigger problems. No I don't think that it is fair for innocent civilians to go through this because they can't help it or do anything about it to stop it, so many innocent people are getting hurt for no reason.

  • No i think they are making it worse it just making them give the right to do it again because they strikes we have been doing don't make them stop doing them. yes, because sooner or later we both going to get tired of wasting resources on doing something that does not help the cause. No, all the innocent people that get killed or really injured don't deserve getting bombed or misled and lose their lives or it.

  • I think they are because its showing them what we've got. I don't think they should stop because we are trying to get arid of ISIS, hopefully they surrender so we can stop this.

  • I think it's somewhat effective in showing them not to mess with us. I don't think they should stop because if we keep doing it then they will hopefully surrender. This is war and in all wars civilians die. If ISIS was smart, then they'd surrender so we can stop airstrikes.

  • I think that they are, because during any war there is going to be civilian loss. I don't think that the us should stop these attacks because they are trying to get rid of ISIS. I don't think that is fair, but during war things like this are bound to happen.
