Regulators in California have proposed a tax on text messages to increase funding for public programs that have small donation incomes. The tax wouldn't be charged per text but more so based on what your monthly phone bill that includes text messaging. A lot of the industries trade groups such as T-Mobile and AT&T are upset about this proposition because they feel as if they are targeted. They also think that it would be unfair in comparison to other internet-based texting companies like Whatsapp, iMessage, and Skype that the major companies would have to pay this tax but the internet-based ones don't.

Be sure to include personal thoughts within your summary. You only replied once and it is two days late which usually means a zero but since you have been gone, I will give you -10 for being late.
Um no. I don't think you should even pay for text messages. They could save someones life. I think its just a plain stupid idea to tax text messages. I also think It's kinda funny that it's even a thing. I thought we were trying to get rid of the numbers of homeless people this will only rise the numbers. Most people can stay float right now. How do you think this is going to play out.
No, I don't think there should be a tax for text messaging. I feel like that would be extremely hard to keep track of considering how many texts everyone sends a day. That also would make it harder for people to communicate because they would be so worried about having to pay tax for sending messages. I think public programs could raise money instead of creating a way for people to pay taxes for messages.
I do not think that taxes should be put in place for text messaging because kids that have phones wouldn't be able to pay them and it would be too much for parents to have to pay especially depending on how many children that they have that have phones.
I don't think that people should be taxed for tex messaging. That would greatly impact our way of communication because many people, especially younger generations, rely on it a lot. Public programs coud hold fundraising events in order to help support them instead of forcing people to pay more money in taxes.
On the other hand, if there was a tax on text messages, it may allow children in this day and age to experience face-to-face conversation. This could help teach children about their people skills. I can see this from both sides of the story. Although, I think that there would be more negative effects than positive.
I do not think that there should be a tax on text messages. That is the way people communicate these days. Some other ways could be to hold fundraisers to help support them, so that people know that help is needed. Instead of taking peoples money in taxes.
I don't that that there sould be a tax on text messaging because theres already so much taxes that our parents have to pay and if you add that to text messagaing that would be a lot because people text a lot everyday thats how we communicate. So I would say no to putting taxes on messaging.
I think if there would be a tax then for every messenger because that would be the only fair way. In general it isn't a bad idea and its good that they would give the money to public programs which need money but personally I wouldn't want to have a tax for messages.
Maybe they could try to get more attention so that people would notice them and eventually donate money or they could organize events and use the money they earn from that.
I don't think that there should be a tax on texting because then eventually people would just stop texting and start using other ways to text, so it would be pointless. They could do fundraisers to earn more money or ask for donations if they needed to.
