In a zoo in the country of El Salvador, individuals broke in to the zoo. They went to a beloved hippo’s enclosure and beat him badly with blunt and sharp objects. The morning after the brake in and beating, Zoo officials noticed that the hippo named Gustavito was acting very strangely by not coming out of the water. He also would not eat. Vlandan Henriquez, the zoo director, said that bruises, puncture wounds, and lacerations were found all over the hippo’s body. They found wounds on the hippo’s feet and cheeks, from when he was trying to defend himself from his attackers. The Zoo director says that the wounds might have been from an ice pick. There were also injuries found in the mouth of the hippo. Even with the zoo's work in trying to save Gustavito, unfortunately he died on Sunday.
Questions:
1.) What do you think that the punishment should be for the people that did this when they are found?
2.) What would you do if you worked at the zoo to help prevent this from ever happening again?
I think that when the attackers are caught that they should be sent to jail for killing the hippo. They should also be charged with breaking in to the zoo. The attackers / murderers should also be charged with animal cruelty with a prison sentence. If I was a worker at the zoo, to try to prevent this from ever happening again, I would install more cameras to watch the animals more closely, and always make sure that everything is looked up before leaving, to insure the safety of all of the animals. If there was enough money, I would hire security guards to watch the zoo each night.

Good job overall! Be sure to keep commenting throughout the week though as you stopped as the week went on.
They should be going to jail for many years. For one thing they were trespassing, and another, they purposefully abused an animal. If I worked at the zoo, I would put out a few night guards and video cameras everywhere.
They should be in jail for a long time.
make sure that the hippo was in an enclosure were nobody could get in
The same punishment that is given to those that have committed animal cruelty and kill an animal in a zoo. Along with animal cruelty and killing an animal, there's also trans-passing, so there is about a few years wroth of crimes here most of the years coming from the animal acts. Electric fences to keep people out at night and to put a clear glass on top of some of the cages that people can enter.
Oh my gosh, this is terrible! I think that the attackers should be found and immediately punished! They are obviously mentally unstable. If I were working at the zoo, I would pay closer attention and make sure cameras were installed.
The people who did this should be punished accordingly by the law. In my opinion this should not be taken easily. It's a serious crime to kill. I'm very sad that this happened. I would tighten security obviously if possible. Also try to make it harder to get to the animals. If attackers do get inside it would take them a lot of time to actually reach the animals and hopefully by that time authorities would already be at the scene.
I think that the attackers should be in a lot of trouble for hurting and killing the hippo for no reason. Also for breaking into the zoo. If I worked at the zoo I would make sure to have people on a night shift to watch over the zoo. Maybe also put more security and things around the zoo.
1. i think they should get beat with baseball bats and ice picks and see how they like it!!
2. i wouldev locked the door to the hippos inclosure and let the hippo go after them
I think these people deserve lifetime in prison for this. I think that the zoo should have more guards.
I think that they should be charged with breaking into the zoo, animal abuse, and some kind of murder charge. I think that thye should hire security, and have more protection for the animals.
