Animal testing helps out humans in many ways, such as helping researchers come up with treatments, or improving the safety of drugs by testing them first. While there is positives, there are always negatives. This including it being very expensive, animals not having the same genetics as humans, and animals being locked in captivity. They are working on an alternative, that being testing the treatments on human cells instead of animals. This means that it's helpful and preventable, but is it necessarily worth it?

Animal tests on animals do not always produce results that are accurate. One example of this being the fact that 94% of drugs that pass animal trials fail human trials. This means that while it helps create drugs, it doesn't always work out in the end. This means that even though we make drugs and have a way to test them before mass production, they can end horribly. Even with the fact that animals are held captive, there are still laws in place for them so they aren't mistreated. They are locked up, but the researchers want to treat them as humanely as possible, even though that includes testing on them whenever they feel the need to.

In my opinion, I think that animal testing should be banned, especially because there are alternatives being put in place so animals don't have to suffer so much. I think that it's horrible to torture the animals, even though it helps human life. The animals were free and happy and then we showed up and locked them in cages and started testing drugs on them and killing them. Even though they are making it more humane, it's still very, very inhumane.

What do you think about animal testing?

Should it be banned?

Is it worth looking into alternatives?

  • Animal testing should be banned to a certain point because it's cruel and unnecessary, companies should invest more time and money into creating new solutions and technologies that don't require animal testing, but if it is animals considered pests like rats I think it should be allowed to stop the growing population of these.

  • In my opinion, I feel that animal testing is a necessary evil. In order to safely test on humans and learn what problems could arise, testing needs to happen on living subjects. If animal testing is banned, then they will be forced to test on humans, and you cannot account for every side effect that may occur. Many people who volunteer to test out drugs are desperate for money and making them the first test subjects would increase the deaths of people.

  • I think that animal testing is very bad, but it is needed to find cures and to help other people that might be sick. Sometimes we have to do things that are bad to help learn more for the future. I think it is worth looking into alternatives that are more ecofriendly and not as harmful to the animals.

  • I think testing animals is bad, animal testing should not be a thing because it it cruel, and just plane stupid.

  • I think anaimals testing shouldn't be done unless it has to be. I feel that is very mean and harsh to anaimals if they don't need the testing. I aslo think if there are looking sick or something then yes they should  test them.

    • I agree, I think that animal testing is a last resort. I also agree with the second part, but them being sick could affect the results.

  • I think that we should stop animal testeng. I think that we should stop animal testeng because it is bad and it is inhumane. It is inhumane because, we could end up making certien animals go extenked, and animal testing will somtimes kill the animal.

  • Personally I think that anaimal testing is very harsh and cruel towards an animals just trying to live because somtimes the tests done to animals are very painful and could leave long term affects on the animals. Also it would be benefical for animals if the testing stoped, but I do think that if the experiment does not hurt the animal than it shoudl be allowed.

    • I agree. I feel if the testing hurts the animals it is a definite no. But if it is nok for them, and helps us a lot with a very high success rate I would possibly be fine with it.

  • I think animal testing is alright to find out what would happen to a human so they give them to animals before humans.
