5 North Korean Officials executed by anti aircraft gun.

According to South Korean officials Kim Jong Un executed 5 of his top officials. They were placed in front of a firing squad of anti aircraft guns and killed. The reason for their execution was that they were supposedly giving false reports to their leader Kim Jong Un. All of the Officials were working under another top official that was found to be a traitor. The reason they were believed to be traitors is unknown to outside countries.

1. Do you think this is a proper punishment for suspected traitors?

I don't think that these people deserved to be killed. Maybe they deserved jail but death seems like an extreme punishment.

2. What do you think would happen if this had happened in the U.S.?

I think that a lot of people would riot and protest because the punishment was too severe for the crime that was committed.

  • I don't believe that the officials should have been killed and if they had to be killed I don't think a firing squad was the right way to do it as that seems a little extreme. If this happened in the US then the officials would be tried for Treason and if they were convicted then they would either be put to death or have life in prison in a high security prison.

  • I think Kim is insane. This just proves my point. It also looks like he might be going off the deep end....Although being a traitor is not good, death sometimes is the only punishment. You don't want that information being leaked to the public anymore than it already has.

  • I think this is a little bit extreme for what they did. If this happened in the U.S.  there would probably a bunch of protests and riots.

  • I feel like death goes pretty far out there and i don't think that this needs to be happening. I don't think that this would ever happen in the US because of all the rules and things that we have to pass to do something like this!

  • I don't think they should have been killed but maybe some other larger punishment and if this were to happen in the US there would be a lot of protests going on also a lot of violence.

  • The whole thing is kinda weird in my mind but i don't think they deserved to die. That's a little harsh. It might be very bad to them and their country but if that happened here they would definitely not be killed. They would probably just be put in jail if even that.

  • I feel that this is a very extreme of punishment but as far as giving false reports, it is considered espionage which can be punished by death in many countries.

People would riot and then would most likely protest. Then nothing would change they would still be dead and the people who rioted would be thrown in jail.

  • These people should of just been moved out of the country and not killed, yes they committed a bad crime but just push the out of your way and keep moving. If this happened in the U.S. than there would be lots of charges and probably 20+ years of jail time!

  • I don't think they should have been killed, this is something that could've easily been taken care of with jail time. This was a very extreme punishment and quite uncalled for. I think there would be protests and riots and there would be hard core investigations by the government officials.
