Dangerous Northeast Winter Storm

Most people in the US would say that March blows in like a lion and leaves like a lamb. But, this year it might actually be the opposite. Less that two weeks ago we were having record high weather with even 80 degrees in Washington D.C. But, now this week much of the Northeast are about to get harmed with heavy snows from a huge winter storm Monday and also into Tuesday. The Boston and New York metro area could actually get up to 18-20 inches. The grocery stores are completely out of stock and most shelves are completely bare. Just one full week until official spring starts and we are having huge snow storms! Nearly one in every three people in the US are in ta winter weather alert of some sort! This type of weather is very strange as a the farmers almanac predicted "a year without a winter."  Sense the beginning of January there has been over 9,000 record high temperatures set in the US and only 1,300 record low temperatures which is very different for this time of year!

Questions-

1.) What would you do if you lived in New York?

2.) Do you think this storm could be very dangerous?

Answers-

1.) I would go and get plenty of groceries and get settled in my house and try to keep safe and warm!

2.) I do think this could probably cause many deaths and even power outage which would cause people to get really colad as well as roofs collapsing because the weight of the snow!

  • Good job overall but all of your comments were done on the same day. Three different days is what I require. -5 late

  • If I lived in New York, I would definitely try to stay indoors as much as possible. I think this storm could potentially be dangerous if people don't take good precautions.

  • If I lived in New York I would go out and get the stuff I needed to live off for at least 2 weeks. I think I would go out before the storm to get this stuff that way I wouldn't be able to get stuck in it. I think that if you got stuck in the middle of the storm while you were out driving it could be very deadly because it could be slick or you wouldn't be able to see where you were driving.

  • I would take precautions and stay inside, because it would be dangerous to go out.  The storm could be disastrous because, We dont know what winter in New York is like, because we are in 'fly-over' country (aka Midwest) and could potentially cause major problems on the east coast, if people choose to venture out, it could cause accidents, hospitalizations of numerous people, etc.

  • I would make sure I had enough food and things to stay home for many days. It defiantly is dangerous, you would not want to be out anywhere in the conditions. It also can cause many power problems that can be dangerous.

  • If it was predicted for my area to become severely harmed, I would definitely take precautions. This storm could be extremely treacherous if the forecasts are correct. 20 inches of snow is a lot!

  • I would be prepared for the storm and make sure that I have everything that I need. With enough snow, especially in high populated areas like New York, it could be pretty dangerous.

  • I would basically prepare for what was to come food, water, and a generator. I would try my best to find ways to help out others that possibly don't have a home or something. I think it could be dangerous because we really do not know what could happen weather is tricky.

    • Yes, I think that preparing for the worst is better than nothing! Getting things ready for weather storms is sometimes tricky and is difficult to be sure you have everything ready!

  • If I lived in New York, I would try to make sure that I would have enough food, water, and anything that I would possibly need just in case I would get trapped inside of my apartment. I think that the snow storm could be very dangerous because it can make people get into car crashes, people could slip and get hurt, also the storms might take out a lot of power which is needed for warmth.
