We finished our project today.
Columbus was the first person to go to America, but he also brought disease and started the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
The original government (Articles of Confederation) of the US was more like 13 individual countries
The constitution gave everyone rights and protected them, and it also established the 3 branches of the government, the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. They all balance eachother out so no one branch becomes too power (checks & balances)

Legislative - congress
Judicial - supreme court
