What impact did the Progressive Era have on the US? 10 point-9chapter

The Progressive Era- Movement seeking to return control of the government to the people. It had four goals. Promoting moral improvement, creating economic reform, fostering efficiency, and protecting social welfare. Also the prohibition, was to ban alcohol. They thought people would have better morals and goals. The workplace also become better.

A lot to do with woman right and prohibition.

Banning of alcohol was a very big thing around this time. Men would get drunk and beat women , showing up drunk to work, ect. and they all just got fed up and started the bans on alcohol which of course became a huge thing that eventually went into the 1920s.

Child labor was cut down to a minimum and labor laws were looking better and better for people as time went on.

African Americans were also gaining a lot of right throughout this time, which ended slavery but really did nothing about racism.

Describe US Foreign Policy in the late 1800's and early 1900's and be able to give examples (10 points)-Ch. 10

The US  worked with old diplomacy. At first we didn't want to get into any other countries problems and wanted to stay to our selves.

We slowly were folding into new diplomacy and we slowly started to get into the war and tried to get involved with other countries.

The big stick diplomacy was with teddy Roosevelt, He had the quote "speak softly and carry a big stick"  which basically meant that you could have power you just didn't have to brag about it and boast every chance you got.

Monroe doctorin Latin America just getting independence warning Europe to stay out. Didn’t not want countries coming over here.

What impact did World War I have on the United States?(10 points)-Ch. 11

The country actually became a lot stronger.

Industry started booming we had things being made all over the place. Advertising was becoming pretty big.

We were forced into the war by Germany with the submarine warfare against us. We didnt want to be in the war, Woodrow Wilson wanted peace.

Our country initially from the start said they didnt want to be involved and it had to happen so after the war we went back to being involved with a new president.

Positive changes- woman right and the lessons for the kids with victory gardens and with all the men gone it gave women more of a chance to jump at the jobs that needed to be taken. Not a very high chance of a women getting a job other than the typical jobs but it could happen.

What positive and negative impact did the 1920's have on the United States?(20 points)-Ch. 12-13

Positive- New invention along with electricity booming and more cars and electronically things being made. Things were looking up with jobs for everyone including the women. Al Capone was sent to prison. Entertainment became popular with jazz and life performences and stuff like that. A lot of blacks were being treated in not a good way but in a i guess "better way"

Negative- KKK became huge. Alcohol was banned which caused a lot of the speakeasies to happen which is basically people hiding and being forced to break the law. The scopes monkey trials began and that was a big new negative evolution thing for people to come across. Nazis started to form. Towards the end the stock market crashed and the US became in great debt and the Great Depression then happened.
