Jimmy Carter's background!
James Earl Carter, Jr. was born October 1, 1924 in Plains,Georgia. He was the first of four children born to James Earl Carter, Sr. and Bessie Lillian Gordy-Carter. Jimmy attended school in his hometown and later attended Georgia Southweatern College and the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 1946 he recieved his Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Naval Academy. Jimmy served in the navy in the Atlantic and the Pacific from 1943 to 1953 as a Submariner. He married Rosalynn Smith in 1946.
After his father's death in 1953 he was discharged from service and took over the family peanut business. He married Rosalynn Smith in 1946. Throughout the years, Jimmy became very successful and was an important part to his community. Some of the things he did included; hospital and library authorities, supervisor of education, and a committed Sunday School teacher (Jimmy Carter firmly believed in the Christian faith).
In 1962, Jimmy was elected to the Georgia Senate and then later, the 76th Governor of Georgia. In 1976, Jimmy Carter became the 39th President of the United States of America.

I think that Jimmy Carter had a different background compared to other presidents. He was the first president ever to be born in a hospital and the only president to ever live in housing subsidized for the poor. I also think he was a good man.
