The History of the Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers history dates back to August 11, 1919, when the Indian packing company agreed to sponsor the pro football team. The Packers joined the National Football League on August 27, 1921, The Packers played in the smallest city in the league at the time so most fans and owners of other teams thought they would relocate. At the start, the Packers mostly had local players from Green Bay or surrounding towns and cities in Wisconsin. In 1922 the Packers started recruiting big-time college athletes and players from other teams, With this big time recruiting the Packers were very competitive and made a really big name for themselves in the league.

The Lombardi Era, Vince Lombardi was one of the most beloved coaches in the NFL and the Packers history. He hoisted Many NFL championships up in the air during his time with the Packers and now the Superbowl trophy is named after him. Coach Lombardi won 3 NFL championships(AFL and NFL were not combined yet) and 2 Superbowl trophies with the Packers in 1961,1962,1965,1966,1967. Lombardi also won the first two Superbowls with the Packers which led to the trophy being named after him. Coach finished his career with the Packers with a record of 98-30-4 (.776) and won nine of the ten postseason games he coached.

The Packers are mostly known for their historically good PLayers and coaches. The Packers have 3 quarterbacks in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Bart Starr(1956-1971) Brett Farve (!992-2007) and after he retires will go to the HOF Aaron Rodgers (2005-Present). The Packers Have won 13 league championships, ( before the NFL and AFL combined into one league and they have 4 Super Bowl titles. Green Bay has 34 Hall of Fame players second most all-time behind their rivals the Chicago Bears. Packers are also known to have a great fanbase almost every game at Lambeau Field is sold out with fans supporting their favorite Football team.

If you were the Owner of the Packers Would you Relocate them, for a bigger Market?

Did You know The NFL and AFL used to be two separate Leagues?

  • I don't usually watch football but if I had to choose a team, I would choose the Chiefs because that is the team that my dad likes. If I was the owner of the Packers I would not relocate them. I think that many families choose teams based on where they live so I think that if you relocate the team people would be mad because their team would be farther away from them.

  • I don't have a favorite team. If relocating them would result in a bigger market I would have to think about and talk with players about whether or not they wanted to relocate as well. I didn't know that the NFL and the AFL used to be two separate leagues.

  • My favorite team is the vikings. They haven't ever won a super bowl and they've only made it to 4. I did not know that the NFL and AFL use to be seperate. However, I do know of other football leages like the USFL and I know they have some pretty good athletes too.

  • I don't watch much football, but if I had to support a team I would support the Cheifs, as my family has always liked them. If I was the owner, I don't think I would relocate them just for a bigger market. I hadn't known that the NFL and AFL where different things.

  • I don't really have a favorite football team. The only football I watch would be the superbowl. If I was the owner of the Packers I would probably keep them where they started. I didn't know that the NFL and AFL used to be two seperate leagues.

  • I don't personally have a favorite NFL team, however, my family supports the Packers a lot. If I were I wouldn't relocate them, mainly because it seems like they are doing pretty well in Wisconsin. I did not realize that there were two separate leagues.

  • My favorite NFL team is the Colts. They are not very good right now or have not been lately, they have won 2 Super Bowls. If  I were the owner of the Packers i would not relocate them because I think they are fine where they are now. I did know that they used to be separated leagues.

  • I'm not very informed with the NFL, so I tend not to have a favorite team. However, I think the San Franciso 49ers are a pretty good team. They've won the super bowl 5 times, close to 6. I wouldn't relocate the packers. And yes, I knew they were separate leagues.

  • My favorite NFL team is the Chiefs, who were in the first superbowl with the Packers and the Chiefs have won four superbowls overall. I think that if I were the Owner of the Packers I would not relocate because they are overall doing fine where they are at now. I had no idea that they were two seperate Leagues.

  • My favorite NFL team is the Kansas City Chiefs they have now won 4 Super Bowls since they just won one. If I was the owner of the Green Bay Packers I would not relocate them because of their loyal fan base I get why someone would relocate them though. I did know that they were 2 separate leagues that later joined.
