Taylor Swifts Ticketmaster Drama

On November 1st, 2022, Taylor Swift announced that she will be touring the US. She originally had 27 shows, then added an extra 25, due to her high demand of tickets. Over 3.5 million fans registered for a verified fan program, and only 2.5 million people were given a presale code. The remaining 1 million fans that had signed up, had to wait till her public sale. Her tickets went on presale on November 15th, 2022. When the tickets were on presale many fans had to wait many hours in the Ticketmaster queue. Ticketmaster crashed and it took 3+ hours for it to come back. When they finally got in to purchase tickets, it was almost impossible. If you tried to buy 2 seats, someone already beat you to it. If you spent too much time getting tickets, you will be kicked out and back in line in the queue. All the tickets during the presale were sold out. Ticketmaster had to cancel the public sale. Many fans did not get the chance to get tickets. On November 18th, 2022, Taylor Swift posted on her Instagram story talking about how she had asked Ticketmaster if they could handle the high demand for tickets. They reassured her that they could. Taylor Swift apologized to her fans for the hard time it was getting tickets. Taylor Swift said that she hopes to give the fans more opportunities to be able to go to her concerts.

Taylor Swift started her Tour on March 17th, 2023. Her concert starts at 8pm and ends around 11pm. She performed through each era of her music career. From happy and joyful music from fearless, to folk and indie songs from folklore. She performed 45 songs, with choreography and dancers. Many people say that The Eras Tour isn’t like any other concert that they’ve been to. Taylor Swift ended her US tour on August 9th, 2023. 15 days later, she started her international tour, in Mexico. The international tour has 78 shows. It will last until November 2024.

There was a 4.4% chance of getting tickets. I was super lucky to be able to get a ticket. I went to The Eras Tour on July 7th, 2023. In Kansas City, Mo. It was amazing! Everyone was so nice and I even traded bracelets. My favorite era was Speak Now. Taylor Swift was so incredible. (I cried when she went on stage!) She even brought out a few celebrities on stage, Joey King, Taylor Lautner, and Presley Cash.

The Eras Tour was a once in a lifetime experience. I’m so happy that she gets to do this around the world. It’s so upsetting that many people got to miss out on this because of Ticketmaster. But there are so many ways people can still watch the concert online, from livestreaming and videos.

What is your opinion on Taylor Swifts Ticketmaster drama?

Were you the 4.4% of people who got a ticket?

  • I think the whole ticketmaster thing could have been avoided. Ticketmaster should have known the big demand of tickets for Taylor Swift. I was not one of the 4.4% of people to get a ticket.

  • I think they could've planned ahead way better considering that they were 1,000,000 people off on the presale tickets. I think that TicketMaster failed miserably in the planning aspect for the sales of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. 4.4% is a very low percent of fans that could go, however, 4.4% of her fans are a lot of people. She has a massive fanbase but I am not part of it.

  • I think Ticketmaster was just in a huge problem because Taylor Swift didn't have many concerts out so they were filling up fast but then  Taylor Swift added a few more and they weren’t smart enough to prepare themselves for those too. Personally I would have liked to see her. I did get a chance but the tickets were so expensive we had to pass them up.

    • It was impossible getting tickets. I got really high up nosebleeds. They weren't too expensive. But they were probably too expensive fpr nosebleeds. I paided about 200 dollars. I still enjoyed it alot.

    • Im so sorry you didn't get a ticket. I had done some research on her old tours and she used to tour in Des moines and Omaha, when she wasn't as popular. Im very proud of how far Taylor Swift had come. Now all her shows are being sold out.

  • I think that Taylor Swift should have used more websites to sell and presell her tickets. Using multiple websites, Swift could have sold more tickets quicker and pleased her fans quicker. I was not one of the 4.4% of people who got a ticket, but it did sound cool.

    • Many people bought Taylor Swift tickets and resold them on different websites like, seatgeek, and stubhub. But they would sell them at crazy prices. Some of the tickets were fake. I wouldn't trust buying tickets from people.

  • I believe that Ticketmaster should of been able to keep up with the high demand of her tickets. TRaylor Swift even reached out to them and asked if they could handle it. but apparently they couldn't. I was not one of the 4.4% but I would have been nice to go.

  • I think that Ticketmaster should have known that the tickets were going to be in high demand. Taylor Swift is a very popular singer-songwriter and many people wanted to get tickets. I was not part of the 4.4% of people that got a ticket, but I have heard people say that they are disappointed that they were not able to get a ticket.

    • I agree with you. Ticketmaster should have known the huge demand for tickets. Taylor Swift has around100 million monthly spotify listeners. Taylor Swift knew her high demand for tickets. But Ticketmaster really didn't.
