Should passing periods be longer? Currently, in Harlan schools the passing periods are 3 minutes long, is that enough? Many kids are late to class due to only having 3 minutes to get to their next class and use the bathroom. Many students abuse passing periods by skipping in the bathrooms and then wanting to be excused. I agree with teachers that if students are going to the bathroom every period they shouldn't have the privilege of longer passing periods.
The kids that responsibly use the bathrooms and don't use it every period should have the privilege of more extended passing periods. But students that are constantly tardy because they don't have enough time shouldn't have consequences. I think passing periods should be 5 minutes long because students usually pack up and get ready about 2 minutes before class ends.
I personally think that passing periods should be longer, it is definitely a good discussion.
How long do you think the passing periods should be?
Are 3 minutes enough for a passing period?

Personally, I think that 4 minute passing periods is the perfect length. It gives kids enough time to go to the bathroom and get to class before the bell rings. Right now, I feel that teachers can't start class right away because there is always a couple students in the bathroom.
I like the time we have right now. I feel that 5-10 minutes is way too long. I think we need just enough time to be able to get to our class and use the restroom. I get irritated if teachers yell at us for being late to class if we use the restroom. I hate having to come to class leave my stuff then leave again when I pass the bathroom on my way.
I think that passing periods should be longer because 3 minutes is hardly enough time to get from the upstairs to the gym without being almost late or late to class. Another reason is that when you get done with class and you are having a hard time understanding the assignment the first thing you do is ask the teacher for help. This could make you late due to scheduling a time to come in and get help or getting help, therefore, having them write you a pass makes you even later because you’re waiting for them to write it and give it to you. I think that the passing periods should be at least 5 minutes long so that you have less of a chance of being late and a better chance of being there on time.
I think that the passing period should be a little bit longer. The 3 minuets we have now give you just enough time to get to your class. It doesn't allow any time for going to the bathroom or getting water. I also think the teachers need a little bit more time to prepare for the next class. I think they should be 5 minutes.
I agree with it being 5 minutes, if it was any longer many students would be skipping.
i think passing periods should be longer. 3 minttes is not enough time to walk to the bathroom, use the bathroom, wash your hands, dry them, and walk back to the classroom. my old school has 10 minute passing periods which i think is a bit too long. I think passing periods should be 5 minutes.
I agree, going to bathroom and getting to your next class take way longer than 3 minutes. 10 minutes is crazy long.
I think that passing periods should be at least 5 minutes long. I think this because it would allow students to walk to their next class and have time to socialize and use the bathroom if they need. I feel that 3 minutes is enough time for me to get to class and sit down. Only having 3 minutes doesn't allow students to do anything.
I agree, students practically only have time to get to their next class and not use the restroom.
I think the passing periods should be 5 minutes I think that is a good enough time to go to the bathroom and get back to your class. Expecially since some bathrooms are farther away from some classes and theres defiantly no way you can get back to your class on time. Its also annoying to have to go to your class and ask to go the the bathroom and walk all the way back to the bathroom when it was just on your way to your class.
