On Monday night a gunman opened fire at Michigan State University. For hours, students and staff members took shelter as this gunman went around and shot anyone he could. This caused 3 people to die and 5 to be in critical condition. Many of these students at MSU had gone through something like this before some have survived the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in 2012 or the Oxford High School shooting in 2021. This all began at 8:18 pm with multiple gunshots inside Berkley Hall. Not long after that, the shooter started moving toward the MSU Union.
At 8:25 pm, many students heard gunshots near the food court, and they started running down flights of stairs to get outside. Finally, at 8:30 pm, MSU sent out an alert telling students to ‘’Run, Fight or Hide.’’ A handful of students barricaded their doors with large pieces of furniture. Some students reported that other people jumped out of windows to get to safety. An hour later the gunman was still on campus, now the shooting was over but multiple other attacks were reported, these reports turned out to be false. At 9 pm the gunman was reported to be on foot and walking away from the scene. Many SWAT cars and police officers were driving around to find this shooter.
Soon hours after the shooting took place the gunman was seen off campus walking around. When the police went up to him, he shot himself which resulted in his death. Another alert was later sent out via email and Twitter which revealed to the students that there were no more threats on campus. The officials lifted the shelter-in-place order, slowly students reunited with their friends. Most students didn't sleep that night, some stayed with their friends talking about everything that just happened.
What would you do if you were in this situation?
Do you think MSU or any college should have a plan in place in case this happens again?
What would you do if a loved one called you and told you they were in this situation?

I would be terrified as well and very scared for everyone else. I believe that all schools college or not should have a plan in case this happens it's sad to think about but if no one has a plan then it would be very bad for anyone that is involved.
