Is Becoming Vegan Pointless?

These days more and more people are becoming vegan because they think it is helping save the animals, but is this lifestyle actually better for the world? Becoming vegan is a bad idea because it is impossible to avoid using any animal products, veganism harms wild animals, and the vegan diet is not healthy.

A vegan's goal is to not eat or use any animal products because they think it saves animals lives, and is better for the world. However, vegans rarely realize how many products have some type of material made from animals in them. Many beauty products contain products from animals. For example, make-up, nail polish, perfume and more all come from animals. Some of the fluids in your car also contain animal products, and if you think that a Tesla doesn’t use animal products because it doesn’t have an engine, the leather in the interior is made from animal skin also. There are so many products that include things from animals to be made, and I would encourage you to read about some sometime.

Many vegans believe by eating only vegetables it will save animals' lives, however, this is not exactly true. Farmers are having to find more land to farm because of the increasing demand for plants. This is causing farmers to take more land to grow plants, which takes away from wild animals habitats. Without the correct habitat, animals do not have the correct environment to live in. Farmers are trying to use GMOs to produce more plants in less land, but people have a problem with that too, even though GMOs do not harm anything.

Without eating animal products like meat, humans can not naturally get the correct nutrients they need to live healthily. Without eating foods from animals people will start to have deficiencies in vitamin B12, iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc, and high quality protein. People will also experience a lack of omega-3. A lack of omega-3 is likely to cause depression. A lack of omega-3 is also known to help develop schizophrenia, dementia, bipolar disorders and more.

Several studies show that living a vegan lifestyle does not have major effects in helping the world, and the vegan diet is not healthy. Only the bad things that happen on bad farms tend to get spread to the public, which spreads the view that animal farming is very cruel and inhuman, however, I can tell you from experience that not all animal farms are that way. All in all, a vegan lifestyle is not smart, because it still harms wild animals, it is not healthy and more. So if you are contemplating becoming vegan, I would encourage you not to, and thank a farmer next time you see one.

Do you think becoming vegan is stupid, explain?

Do you think a vegan diet is healthy?

Would you ever become Vegan, explain?

    • I agree, becoming vegan is not healthy for your body. Most vegan foods are so highly processed, and does not have all the nutrients you need to live healthily.

  • I think that becoming vegan is one's own choice.  I would never go vegan.  I think that meat is a vital source of protein for humans and animals.  Humans were born with  K-9 teeth.   These teeth are designed to cut through the meat. I think that we should not stop eating meat.

  • I don't think it's stupid to be vegan; that wording is unnecessarily combative. I am not vegan, but everyone who is vegan has their own reasons for it. It's nobody's business to judge what a person eats. I couldn't find anything to corroborate your claim that veganism requires more land for plants. A majority of agricultural land is dedicated to livestock rather than crops. There are a lot of products other than food that use animals. However, I think most vegans realize this, and even people who aren't vegans try to limit their animal product consumption. There is some thought being put into that. I think someone on a vegan diet definitely needs to make sure they're supplementing all their lost nutrients. I think it is possible that some vegans are deficient in some important nutrients. I don't think I would become vegan/vegetarian, but I can see its merit.

    • It is common sense that if more plants need to be grown because of increasing demand, it will take more land. I have found several articles to support this and my own first hand experience in farming. I will gladly send you these articles if that would benefit your knowledge on this topic. It is obvious that if more plants are being eaten, and more plant based foods are being consumed, more plants will need to be grown. It is still nearly impossible to not use any animal products in a persons lifestyle even if you limit your use of some products that have animal. The reason more land is dedicated to livestock than crops is because some land simply can not grow crops, for example, land in Wyoming does not support plant life well, so rancher raise livestock on it. My goal in this post was to spread information on why becoming vegan does not have as many good effects as it is said to have, I agree that it is peoples choice if they want to be vegan. Yes, vegans can get their nutrients through different supplements like things made in factories, but it is a lot more beneficial to recieve these nutrients naturally, do you disagree with that too?

      • As I said before, livestock requires more land than crops do. Switching land from livestock to crops would conserve land. Like I stated, I'm not vegan so I don't think that's a horrible thing. But, it is a fact. You can think something is apparent, but there is zero precedent that supports that idea.

        • As I also said, the reason more land is used for livestock than crops, is because a significant amount of land is un-farmable. To resolve this farmers put livestock on this land. When land is un-farmable it means it is unable to supports crops, or it is to difficult to farm this land, therefore you can not simply just switch the land over to crops. Having a farming background this information is apparent, and I have found articles to support this too.

  • Maybe someday vegan will become a good thing in the future but not many people are down to becoming vegan. I see both sides of this, I know people want to save the animals but at the same time it is really healthy to not be vegan. I don't think it is that healthy to be vegan but its peoples choice. I don't think I will ever become vegan.

  • I don't think becoming vegan helps anything. It isn't healthy for you because it doesn't have all the nutrients you can get from non vegan foods. I would never be vegan because I don't think its healthy and my family raises animals so I would want to support that.

    • I also raise animals and I would never turn against that. Vegan foods definitely do not have all the nutrients you need and are very highly processed.

  • I think vegan is stupid, because people need that protein and not fake meat. I do not think a vergan diet is healthy because you need to eat meat every single day. I would never become vegan because I dont want to eat cardboard everday.
