Lunch at our school is 30 minutes. During this time students need to get to the cafeteria, stand in the lunch line, eat their food, and put their trays back. So should lunch be shorter or longer? There are pros and cons to both sides.
The CDC recommends that students should get at least 20 minutes of time to eat their lunches. This does not include the amount of time it takes for students to stand in the lunch line and get their food. However, many times once students are seated they only have 15 minutes or less to finish their lunch. Nutrition experts say that 15 minutes or less is not enough time for kids to properly eat and digest their food. It is also better for students mental health if they have time to socialize during lunch.
However, if lunch was longer, the school day might also be longer. This would leave students with less time for after school activities, and can also make students more tired from a longer day of school. If lunch was longer and the school decided to keep the school day the same, then lunch would take away class time. Then the teachers would have to fit their lesson plans into shorter classes, and students would have less time to learn the material and ask questions about it.
In my opinion, I think they should just keep lunch period at 30 minutes. I feel like I have enough time to eat lunch, and I don’t think it's worth making the school day longer or taking away from class time.

I think that lunch should be just as long as any other class just because by the time you get your food 15 minutes have already passed and then you conversation with your friends that you might not have any class with takes up time. Also a lot of teachers think that is the time you should go to the bathroom so it doesn't leave much time to eat.
I think 30 minutes is the perfect amount. I usually finish my food with about 10 mins remaining. I use this time to talk to friends or just be on my phone. It is really nice to just not be in a class and relax. I think that 30 mins is not to long and not to short, but just right.
I think 30 minutes is a good amount of time for people to eat lunch. Everybody should have enough time to eat and use the bathroom if needed. If lunch was any longer it would be too long and would take away useful class time or cause the day to be longer.
I think that lunch is good as it is. We have enough time to eat and chat. Sometimes the lunch lines are long, but I think everyone gets their food with enough time to eat it and chat with friends.

I think lunch should be 5 - 10 minutes longer. we spend half that time waiting in the lunch line to get our food. lunch is also our social hour so we spend half of our eating time talking too. so that means we only get about 7 and a half minutes to eat which is not nearly enough time.
Me personally i think that lunch should be the same length of our classes because the lunch laides are sometimes slow and we have to sit in line for half of our lunch then when we sit down we only have about 15 minutes to eat and that is not enough time
I agree that lunch should stay at 30 minutes long, there is nothing wrong with that they give you just the right amount of time to hangout and get decent break of school work. If the lunch was anylonger I think that some kids would complain of boredism.
I agree, I feel like lunch is a good amount of time and shouldn't be longer.
I think lunch is a perfect time because some kids are done in short time period and sit there and that could cause trouble in the bathrooms or even in the lunch room. I think lunch should at least be a half hour like it is because its perfect how it is.
