Reconstruction - The period of time after the Civil War in which the South had to be rebuilt and restructured to be brought back into the Union to remake the United States. President Lincoln and Johnson wanted to be easy on the South. Split South into five military districts controlled by US Army. 13 Amendment (Slavery Abolished), 14th Amendment (equal protection of laws), 15th Amendment (gave black males the right to vote). Carpetbaggers - Northerners that went to the South to get money in the South. Scalawags - Southerners who worked with the Carpetbaggers.
War of 1812 Causes:
- Impressment (stopping US ships and forcing American soldiers onto British ships to work)
- British making Native Americans attack Americans
